I recently visited EPIC Universe and I loved it. One of my first thoughts was Universal can build an amazing new park with far less IP than Disney and what has Disney World opened since Tron in 2023. With 4 parks the only major attraction they opened was Tiana’s Bayou Adventure which is basically just a redesign of Splash Mountain. I see much more innovation at the overseas Disney Parks. In 2026 Disney World is opening a re-theming Rock n Roller Coaster, Millenium Force, and Soarin and opening a re-furbished Big Thunder Mountain and Buzz Lightyear. I like some of the attractions coming in the future but as someone who brought the family to Disney World every year for vacation we spent our 2025 vacation at Universal Studios, and nothing is drawing us to Disney World in 2026. I read a great book years ago “It’s not the big that eat the small… It’s the fast that eat the slow.” It’s time Disney World shows some urgency in their park development.
I am hopeful that this is a sign of things to come at Disney under Josh’s leadership. Walt said that our Guests can “feel excellence.” Its true. We are longing for that feeling of excellence we last experienced under the Michael Eisner era when the Cruise Line was launched, when numerous blockbuster movies were released and innovative new attractions were placed in the Disney parks. I was pulling for Josh to get the CEO spot because I felt that he best internalized Walt’s vision. I don’t see Josh D’Amaro declaring that his vision for Disney is somehow more insightful for today’s world than Walt’s. If he and Dana can also put the political statements and lecturing in the past and can do so quickly, they will be very successful indeed.
I understand making things more interesting and spectacular dark. BUT , the first for guess to enter Disney will also be expensive for most families. The nickel and dime has got to slow down. This is just my thought.
NOW, IF when Josh remakes the new areas and makes them so that Plus Size people can experience everything, people will NOT go to Universal. They have fifteen (15) rides that have banned Plus Size people. This includes pregnant women!
