Going to remain cautiously optimistic about this one. Loved the Mandalorian, even most of the 3rd season, but Disney has proven they absolutely can snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

“Eric” the Clown put out with his big shoe.

  3. If Jon is leaving it points to only one thing, and it’s not good! Dave was a KK disciple, I was hopeful it was just while she was there, but if Jon is leaving it’s because Lucasfilm is not really under new management. Star Wars will always have ended at Return of the Jedi. Disney proves it with everything they mess up! I was hoping this film was a way forward, if Jon is leaving it’s only a way to Ep. 7, shame!

Dave worked for George Lucas before KK.

It certainly didn’t end with ROTJ, there was the whole expanded universe they could have drew from, but instead they decided to ditch it.

Various directors have managed to put a lot back into canon but it was an huge missed opportunity from Disney.

Yeah, but the legends continuity lacked any messaging. Unlike the films.

I KK worked with Lucas on Raiders, so I don’t think he could have worked with him before she did.

That’s not what he said. He said that Dave worked for George WHILE George was running Lucasfilm, THEN for KK when she took over after the sale to Disney. Considering that Raiders came out in ’81 (and Dave would have been around 6-10 years old), logic dictates that he couldn’t have possibly worked for them then.

The last Episode of Season 2 of Mandalorian was as good as anything Star Wars has ever done. The connection with the original trilogy blew me away. If Mandalorian and Grogu can recapture that magic, then Mandalorian has a great future. If the movie is another Mandalorian Season 3, then its over. I hope Disney’s new creative releases get better without Bob Iger. The secret is what Walt Disney knew; great writing and great story-telling far outweigh big budgets.

I really like what Dave and Jon have put together. It felt true to Star Wars, and true to the time period in which the events occur. I feel these men are fans of Star Wars and they are in a position to be creative and add to the universe with a care that a fan would have. If he does exit, his touch will surely be missed by those most affected – viewers, but thank you Mr. Favreau for adding to our universe, we appreciate you.

  8. Jon can always return if he wants.

Whose idea was it to turn Boba Fett into a sheriff that says no to drugs, and a badass mandalorian into a babysitter for the next 50 years!

Favreau’s leaving might be a good thing. He may be responsible for ruining Boba Fett’s lore.
