No, I believe that Gunn has destroyed the DCU, I did not watch the latest Superman and do not intend to watch any further films that he is a part of. Let’s face it, the DCU has always fallen flat compared to the Marvel Universe (which is also in shambles now), but when Man of Steel was released we all so hope, it was an amazing movie and it was cast perfectly. Then Aquaman, arguably the highest grossing film in history, also the best DCU movie ever by far, the cast was perfect, the movie was exceptional. Now, we have a guy that’s been in very few films, comes in as Superman, makes Superman ‘woke’, and has destroyed the franchise. I would not expect great things from the DCU again, they’re on their way back down to the bottom. Disney has realized it’s errors and has started bringing cast members back before they completely destroyed Marvel, I wonder how long it will take before DCU realizes that they’re going the wrong direction and does a U-Turn.

Superman has ALWAYS been “woke.” He’s literally an alien living among humans. Man of Steel was most certainly NOT perfectly cast. Sorry but Superman is not dark and grim, he’s the proverbial Boy Scout who gets by with pluck and determination, and the firm belief that anyone can be good. Chris Reeves portrayed this best and Corenswet was clearly inspired by Reeves’ portrayal.

Aquaman, highest grossing film ever? No. That goes to the first Avatar movie, which grossed 2.9 billion overall. Aquaman only made just over 1.15 billion.

The DCU failed man, let it go.

      Cast perfectly?

Dark haired Lois Lane played by redhead Amy Adams.

Russell Crowe sounding more like Russell Crowe than Jor-El. He ain’t no Marlon Brando.

Fact is, every actor in the Christopher Reeve films was cast better than the MOS ones. Fact.

Christopher Reeve better than Henry Cavill.

Margot Kidder better than Amy Adams.

Marlon Brando better than Russell Crowe

Terence Stamp better than Michael Sheen

Glenn Ford better than Kevin Costner.

If you want to extend it past MOS, Gene Hackman a better Lex than Jesse Eisenberg. Hell, Houth was a better Lex in “Superman” than Eisenberg.

First of all, Superman in this movie was not woke. Second of all how can you judge it since you’re so damn close-minded you wouldn’t even watch it in the first place. You don’t know what you’re talking about obviously. Everyone is entitled to an opinion, but usually it’s good to have an educated opinion when you give one and you can hardly do that when you don’t even look at the source material that you’re talking about. Superman was a good movie, and it had good cameos from other heroes and was highly enjoyable. There are parts of it that I didn’t agree with of course because I’m a huge fan of the comic books from the ’60s ‘and 70s, but I’m like some people, I actually went and watched a movie and gave it a chance and had a great time.

Two live-action Batmen at the same time feels like the old James Bond split it didn’t really help either version. With The Batman still active, recasting for the DCU risks repeating the Keaton → Bale → Affleck reset cycle. It’s also odd that Blue Beetle can roll into the DCU, but Batman can’t. Maybe it works, but I get why people are uneasy.

    It better be Jensen Ackles.

AMEN!!!! HONESTLY. He is the only logical choice that I can even picture in this bat suit.

I would have liked to have seen where Pattinson went with Batman character but as usual Jamie Gunn is gun ho about changing actors before they develop the characters , Henry Cavill case in point .

    1. Dale

Pattinson is still doing “The Batman 2”.

You will have your chance. They are working on the next Batman movie with Robert now. James Gunn isn’t changing anything in that particular series of films. As far as I know they’re still planning on doing three of them in that timeline with that cast of characters. Google it and you can read some interviews with Robert and with the director and maybe it’ll clear some things up for you.
