Big news for Disneyland Resort guests… On February 16, the Southern California vacation destination confirmed the indefinite closure of two of its attractions beginning next month: the Disneyland Monorail and Roger Rabbit’s Car Toon Spin.
Roger Rabbit’s Car Toon Spin Refurbishment

On Monday, an update to the official Disneyland Resort refurbishment calendar confirmed that Roger Rabbit’s Car Toon Spin will shut down for scheduled refurbishment on March 30, 2026. The Mickey’s Toontown dark ride underwent a significant overhaul shortly after the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, upgrading Jessica Rabbit from being tied in a trunk in a sultry outfit to an active role as a detective in the attraction’s storyline.
Disneyland Resort has not said whether the upcoming closure is for standard maintenance or another update to Roger Rabbit’s Car Toon Spin. The park’s official calendar only goes through March 30 at this time, so it’s unclear when the Mickey’s Toontown attraction will reopen.
Disneyland Monorail Closure
On the same day that Roger Rabbit’s Car Toon Spin closes, the Disneyland Monorail system will also shut down. This is huge for guests who prefer the tram system for the 2.5-mile journey from the Downtown Disney District to Tomorrowland in Disneyland Park. Presumably, the Tomorrowland entrance to the original Southern California Disney park will also close beginning March 30, 2026.

Disneyland Resort recently filed construction permits for its historic Monorail system. The documents indicate upgrades to several support pillars and plans for electrical work, but Disney Park guests may not notice any updates to the experience when it reopens.
Just like Roger Rabbit’s Car Toon Spin, there is no planned reopening date for the Disneyland Monorail. Disneyland Resort has not issued a public statement on its plans for the historic transportation system.
