On Wednesday, Disney shared a first look at the reimagined versions of multiple Frozen (2013) characters, including Anna, Elsa, and Kristoff. Here’s what fans of one of the most popular animated franchises in history need to know.
New Frozen (2013) Character Models

Frozen Ever After, the rethemed Maelstrom boat ride in the Norway World Showcase Pavilion at EPCOT, closed on January 26, 2026. Walt Disney World Resort promised that the refresh would include updating the controversial facial projection-mapped audio-animatronics, which often froze up or went black in front of horrified Disney Park guests.
The new audio-animatronics, which feature sculpted faces and heads and more fluid, true-to-screen body movements, were inspired by the version of Frozen Ever After that opened in the World of Frozen at Hong Kong Disneyland in 2023. Tokyo Disney Resort debuted similarly impressive audio-animatronics in Anna and Elsa’s Frozen Journey, a boat ride in the new Fantasy Springs area at Tokyo DisneySea.
Finally, almost ten years after Frozen Ever After opened at EPCOT, Walt Disney World Resort is stepping into a new era with advanced audio-animatronics on the original version of the ride that eventually spread around the globe. The Norway World Showcase Pavilion attraction is scheduled to reopen tomorrow, Thursday, February 12.

One day ahead of the refreshed boat ride’s debut, Walt Disney World Resort shared a first look at several reimagined audio-animatronics of Anna, Elsa, and Kristoff. Theme park journalist Scott Gustin (@ScottGustin) posted the images on X (formerly known as Twitter):

Another Frozen Ever After Debut

Disneyland Paris Resort will introduce its own version of Frozen Ever After in the World of Frozen at the renamed Disney Adventure World on March 29, 2026. The European Disney park will also debut a complex, walk-around audio-animatronic of Olaf that will participate in shows and limited encounters with guests.
