Pirates will be wearing dresses, Women formerly being chased will be schooling the pirates in sensitivity, and instead of mugs of home brew they will all be drinking cosmopolitans.
Please, no. 😆 I thankfully haven’t seen much woke at the parks. Especially on rides. Too much wokeness in some parades and merch….but not so much we refuse to go.
I take my daughter there specifically for the Pirates of the Caribbean ride. It’s her very favorite. That’s the 1st ride she wants to go on and then a 2nd time. She wants to ride it once before leaving for the night too. We are already booked for the Halloween season but if it’s going to be closed, then we’ll probably put it off till the next year. She’s disabled and the only thing she looks forward there to is that ride. I hope they make sure to have it open during the whole Halloween season at Disneyland.
I think Disney should fo whatever it needs to do to keep the ride and CMs safe, and to minimize chances of breakdowns. There is no reason to think they will change the visible elements of the ride, or its story. Someone is going to be disappointed because they’ll miss the ride during the closure. It can’t be avoided. Assuming it will take more than a couple weeks, the refurb is going to impact a busy season.
I think you’re spot on. TBH I wouldn’t mind some visual improvements but nothing woke. I already think it’s silly what they have done so far but at least nothing too crazy. Just really annoying, betraying the idea of what pirates are but of course it’s not meant to be historically accurate.
We wants the redhead!
In her original glory. Every time she came into focus I just marvelled at her bright colours!
I wish Disney would take a stance and realize, the offended types always look for things that offends them. Draw a line! Say to yourselves- thats it! No more!!
I was stuck mid Avengers ride in Disney Paris in 2024. I have never been stuck in the middle of a roller coaster. We had to get off using the staff stairs, which are scare as hell if you’re phobic. In fact, a girl had a panic attack and couldn’t get off the cart. All that magic Disney world and Tokyo Disney mad feel faded.
What I mean is, when half the park was closed for renovations and maintenance, one ride literally switches off out of the blue makes me question its safety.
Stay classic. We loved it and always will. We’re coming out of the slow season which is the best time for major closures and repairs. We’re regulars and we think about the 1st timers a lot. Pirates is a major attraction and should be worked on during the slowest times. I wish there was an Outpost for this ride like the Submarine Nemo Ride! How fun would that be? Oh, try not to bring politics into Disney. No place for that, IMO. Bring your smiles and magic!

Hopefully they stop the woke changes! If they keep it up they’ll need to change the name to pirates, a sensitivity experience.

Get rid of Johnny Depp. That would be a major improvement. Then return the Red Head to her original role and deal with it.
Rosanne Branham
Yes!
Linda
I don’t think we need to get rid of Johnny but I’d be fine with the original ride otherwise. Pirates are supposed to be scummy for the most part.

I can’t believe they’re making permanent changes to Pirates of the Caribbean. Any idea what they’re planning to update?
