One Disney park has pushed back a long-awaited reopening by an entire year, much to the displeasure of guests.
Temporary closures are commonplace at Disney’s theme parks. For example, Frozen Ever After just reopened today at EPCOT after a brief refurbishment that saw its audio-animatronics upgraded. Over at Magic Kingdom, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad has undergone a lengthy closure to replace its aging track and upgrade effects.

Meanwhile, Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance is blocked to guests in Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland right now, while Jungle Cruise is slated to undergo a closure from February.
When Disney parks conduct these closures, they typically come with at least a rough estimate of a reopening date or timeframe. For the most part, Disney tends to meet these deadlines.
However, that is not the case at one park, where the reopening of a beloved dining experience was just pushed back by nearly a year.
Disney Park Delays Restaurant Terrace Reopening
Tokyo DisneySea – often regarded as the best Disney theme park in the world – has delayed the reopening of the Teddy Roosevelt Lounge’s terrace seating to March 1, 2027.
It was originally slated to reopen on April 8, 2026.

Tokyo Disney Resort hasn’t offered an explanation for the closure. Unsurprisingly, guests are unimpressed by the delay. As one wrote on X, “Is there no one around, or is there no motivation…?”
The dining area originally closed in November, along with the rest of Teddy Roosevelt Lounge. While the outdoor seating area is now off-limits for the foreseeable future, the good news is that guests can still visit the lounge as usual when it reopens in April.
As the name suggests, the lounge is inspired by the former American president. “This lounge, with the atmosphere of an upscale early 20th century social club, is named after the great American adventurer and leader, President Theodore Roosevelt, nicknamed ‘Teddy,'” the park explains on its website. “While he achieved many great things, the four wooden carved bears in the lounge are also inspired by anecdotes about President Roosevelt.”
Fittingly, the restaurant is located within the American Waterfront area of the park. The land is also home to the Tower of Terror (which puts a unique spin on the concept, free of any Twilight Zone theming), Turtle Talk, and Toy Story Mania!, plus a hub for the DisneySea Electric Railway.

While closures are standard, this kind of delay does feel out of the ordinary – especially at a park that famously struggles with congestion. Recent months have seen rides such as Soaring: Fantastic Flight and Anna and Elsa’s Frozen Journey attraction with lengthy lines, with the former experiencing a whopping 6.5-hour queue in January.
