Walt Disney World Resort has already replaced half of the current Cinderella Castle color scheme at Magic Kingdom Park. The latest update comes after repainting began earlier this year, forcing some changes to entertainment offerings at the original Central Florida Disney park. Here’s the latest progress report on the project.
Cinderella Castle Repainting

In August 2025, Walt Disney World Resort announced plans to repaint Cinderella Castle in a light blue, gold, and gray color scheme, inspired by its original look. The Magic Kingdom Park icon has been pink, blue, and gold since the Central Florida Disney park’s 50th anniversary celebration began in 2021. Many Disney Parks fans felt the color scheme long overstayed its welcome, as the official Walt Disney World Resort 50th Anniversary festivities ended in March 2023.
@DisneyParks shared concept art for the new color scheme on X (formerly known as Twitter):

Work on the updated color scheme started in January. Due to the scope of the project, characters have been removed from the “Let the Magic Begin” welcome show, and showtimes of “Mickey’s Magical Friendship Faire” have been pushed to later in the day. Mickey and Minnie Mouse, Goofy, and Daisy Duck have been making surprise roaming appearances in Fantasyland on some mornings to make up for the reduced entertainment on the castle stage.
Latest Update Out of Magic Kingdom Park

On Thursday, February 12, WDWNT reported that nearly the entire back half of Cinderella Castle is now painted gray. Crews started with a gray patch on one of the spires on this side, so it’s not surprising that they’ve continued to focus on this half of the iconic structure. Painters have also started working on the trim around the windows on the back side of the building.
The Disney Park guests also spotted painters working on the front half of Cinderella Castle, particularly near the clock. This was covered with a “50” medallion during Walt Disney World Resort’s 50th anniversary celebration, but that decoration was removed long before Disney announced plans to repaint the building.

Gray has appeared on some of the towers on the front half of Cinderella Castle, though most of the work is still isolated to the back side. It’s unclear whether this initial coat is the final color or acting as a primer or base coat before more detailed work is added.
Walt Disney World Resort has said the project will wrap up by the end of the year, but hasn’t confirmed an exact date.
