Universal Epic Universe is expanding in 2026, with new locations, rides, and more set to arrive at the park, which opened just one year ago. Now, mysterious walls have been erected within the park’s central hub, fueling speculation among guests about what this could mean.

Universal Epic Universe Expansion Coming: New Rides, Shows and More
Standing in Celestial Park today, you might miss it at first. Guests stroll past Moonship Chocolates & Celestial Sweets, unaware that just beyond the pathways, dirt is being leveled and walls are rising. It’s subtle — but unmistakable. Something new is coming to Epic Universe, and it’s happening sooner than many expected.

Early Construction Signals a Major Epic Universe Expansion
Universal’s newest theme park officially opened in May 2025, instantly reshaping the Orlando theme park landscape with five highly immersive lands. Now, less than a year later, the company appears to be wasting no time expanding its boldest project yet.

On December 14, 2025, aerial images shared by trusted theme park photographer @bioreconstruct revealed active groundwork on one of Epic Universe’s designated expansion pads. The location sits between Other Worlds Mercantile and SUPER NINTENDO WORLD, directly across from Moonship Chocolates & Celestial Sweets — prime real estate inside the park.

So far, the work appears limited to dirt movement and land leveling. But in theme park development, this stage is often the first visible sign that a long-term plan has moved into execution.

What Permits Reveal About Epic Universe’s Next Phase
The biggest clue comes from public records.
A recently filed construction permit references “site utilities and foundation work” for new construction at 1001 Epic Blvd, Orlando, Florida 32819 — the official address of Epic Universe. The permit lists a project footprint of approximately 150,000 square feet and an estimated completion date of May 7, 2026.
That timeline is especially notable. It places the project’s conclusion less than one year after Epic Universe’s grand opening — a remarkably fast turnaround for a park of this scale.
Earlier speculation suggested the permit could be tied to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Ministry of Magic. However, with visible work now underway in Celestial Park and near SUPER NINTENDO WORLD, it appears this permit may instead apply to one of Epic Universe’s internal expansion zones.

Universal Leadership Confirmed Expansion Was Already Planned
While Universal hasn’t announced details publicly, this expansion aligns perfectly with what leadership has already said.
Earlier this year, Karen Irwin, President and COO of Universal Orlando Resort, stated plainly:
“We’re already planning for the next thing at Epic.”
At the time, the comment hinted at long-term growth. Now, with construction walls erected inside Celestial Park and active site work visible, that “next thing” appears to be officially in motion.

Where the Expansion Could Connect Inside the Park
Based on its location, the new construction could logically tie into one of two major areas:
-
SUPER NINTENDO WORLD — potentially as an indoor expansion or future franchise overlay
-
Celestial Park — which has already shown signs of becoming more than just a central hub
Guests have also reported new construction walls appearing inside Celestial Park itself, fueling rumors of a large-scale entertainment venue, nighttime experience hub, or even a multi-purpose show space.
Universal has used similar strategies before, allowing lands to “breathe” during their first year before layering in additional attractions, dining, and entertainment.

Why This Expansion Matters for Universal Fans
Epic Universe was designed to grow — literally. Unlike older parks, its layout includes dedicated expansion pads built directly into the master plan. Seeing Universal activate one so quickly reinforces just how central Epic Universe is to the company’s future.
For guests, it means repeat visits will feel genuinely different year to year. For Universal, it cements Epic Universe as a living, evolving park — not a one-and-done project.
And for theme park fans watching closely? This may be just the beginning.
