As of Tuesday, January 20, 2026, Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance is now closed at Disneyland Park. The hottest ride in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is undergoing maintenance ahead of the Batuu timeline shift that Disney announced earlier this month. Disneyland Resort hasn’t said when the popular attraction will reopen.

Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge Overhaul

Days ago, Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort announced plans to change the timeline in place in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge since 2019. When the change takes effect, half of the Star Wars land will be set in the era of the original trilogy, while the other half will remain set in the sequel trilogy timeline.

Disneyland Park will introduce the refreshed land on April 29, 2026; an exact date hasn’t been announced for Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

Disney has already begun making changes ahead of this massive update. At Disneyland Resort, Oga’s Cantina also closed on January 20, for both general maintenance and likely aesthetic updates related to the timeline change.

In the new version of Batuu, the bar is much newer than its original form. The iconic “Cantina Band” song from Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope (1977) will be added to the lounge’s music loop. The dining location is expected to reopen in early March 2026.

As part of the refresh, the First Order Cargo store will be replaced with Black Spire Surplus, “a military salvage operation offering artifacts from across the history of the galaxy,” including the Galactic Civil War (from the original Lucasfilm trilogy). Leia Organa, Han Solo, Luke Skywalker, and Darth Vader will also greet guests throughout the land.

With just months until the historic timeline shift in the Black Spire Outpost, Disneyland Resort has closed Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance for an extended refurbishment. There is currently no set reopening date for the Disneyland Park attraction; the official website encourages fans to “check back” for updates.

It’s unclear what Disney plans to address during this maintenance. Last January, Disneyland Resort finally repaired the broken cannon effect that had been out of service for over three years.
