The past few months haven’t been kind to Kylo Ren fans, and Disney now appears ready to take things a step further.
In late 2025, Adam Driver – the actor behind Kylo Ren, aka Ben Solo, in the Star Wars sequel trilogy – revealed that Disney CEO Bob Iger and Alan Bergman, co-chairman of Disney Entertainment, had officially put a pin in a planned solo film for the character.
The Hunt For Ben Solo reportedly had a budget and a script and was inching towards an official announcement when Iger halted the project due to confusion over how the character had survived the end of Star Wars:The Rise of Skywalker (2019).

Now, Disney has revealed plans to also pull the character from Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.
Kylo Ren’s Complicated Spot in the ‘Star Wars’ Fandom
Kylo Ren entered the sequel trilogy as a man trying to live up to a legacy he didn’t fully understand. In Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015), he idolized Darth Vader and was very much positioned as the antagonist of the trilogy, especially after killing his father, Han Solo (Harrison Ford).
Some fans have never warmed to that trajectory. Kylo’s emotional volatility, frequent defeats, and abrupt redemption felt unsatisfying to viewers who wanted a more traditionally threatening villain. His swings between rage and remorse struck critics as inconsistent, especially across films directed by different creative teams.

Others embraced those same traits. Kylo’s self-doubt, anger, and eventual rejection of the dark side made him feel more human than some Star Wars villains. His connection with Rey – which was nicknamed Reylo – also drew praise (and a wealth of fan fiction) from many.
As Disney announced earlier this week, Disneyland Park is set to ditch its strict sequels-only timeline for the land and instead introduce characters and elements from the original trilogy. That includes opportunities to meet Leia (whose costume of choice has left some fans frustrated), Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, and Darth Vader.

The latter is set to roam the planet of Batuu in his hunt for Luke Skywalker. You can currently find Kylo Ren doing the same for Resistance fighters.
Considering the fact that Kylo Ren is technically Darth Vader’s grandson, born years after the latter’s death, it wouldn’t make sense to find the two in the same place at the same time. And so, Kylo Ren will no longer be available for spontaneous encounters in Galaxy’s Edge (via Los Angeles Times).
While some fans are overjoyed at the prospect of Disney doubling down on the films that made Star Wars famous, some fans aren’t exactly thrilled by the news.
“Remember like 4 weeks ago when the entire internet was rallying behind a Ben Solo movie and Disney’s response is to….. remove Kylo Ren from Disneyland,” wrote one fan on X, formerly Twitter.
Another said, “I don’t see any reason to get rid of Kylo lol he was so fun.”
“A big f**k you to Disney today,” one wrote. “After months of fan outcry begging for The Hunt for Ben Solo, they decided to SHELVE Kylo Ren at the parks & announced that Galaxy’s Edge will undergo an original trilogy makeover.”

Once he leaves Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in April, Kylo Ren will relocate to the Disney Visa character experience in Tomorrowland.
That means guests will still have an opportunity to meet the iconic modern villain – even if encounters may not be quite as natural or entertaining as those that occurred within Galaxy’s Edge.
Some have pointed out that this would be the perfect time to unveil new plans for the character – especially if it plans to double down on his redemption as Ben Solo, which would explain the decision to move away from his Kylo Ren identity.
At the moment, it’s an appealing theory – even if it hasn’t yet been matched by any official movement. Your move, Disney.
