As Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort prepare to erase the original timeline of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, Disneyland Park is shutting down the popular Oga’s Cantina lounge. The final day to experience the dining location (for now) is Monday, January 19; it will remain closed beginning Tuesday, January 20.

Earlier this month, Disney announced plans to overhaul the existing Batuu timeline at Disneyland Park. Beginning April 29, 2026, half of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland Resort will shift to the timeline of the original trilogy, while the other half will remain set in the sequel trilogy. Walt Disney World Resort will implement the same timeline shift in the Star Wars land at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, but an exact date has not been announced.

In addition to the updates to Oga’s Cantina at Disneyland Park, Disney is implementing several other changes throughout Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge to accommodate the timeline shift. Darth Vader, Luke Skywalker, Leia Organa, and Han Solo will appear throughout portions of the land, and classic John Williams compositions will be incorporated into the music loop.

Additionally, the existing First Order Cargo merchandise location, which currently only sells First Order and Imperial items, will be “a military salvage operation offering artifacts from across the history of the galaxy, including Imperial and Rebel items from the Galactic Civil War.” The Galactic Civil War happened in the original George Lucas film trilogy.

With just months until the overhaul of the land that opened at Disneyland Park in 2019, the park is temporarily closing Oga’s Cantina for refurbishment. The closure, rumored initially to last only four days, will remain in effect until early March. However, Disneyland Resort has not announced an exact opening date.

In addition to routine maintenance, Disneyland Resort will inevitably make some lore changes to Oga’s Cantina. As Disney explained:

“In the era of the Galactic Civil War, proprietor Oga Garra only recently opened this watering hole, which is already becoming a popular spot for intergalactic travelers.”

Disney has confirmed that the “Cantina Band” song from Star Wars: A New Hope (1977) will be added to the music loop in Oga’s Cantina. The company also confirmed aesthetic changes throughout Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, but hasn’t provided many details or clarified whether that includes the popular lounge.

Unlike Walt Disney World Resort’s version of Oga’s Cantina, the Star Wars bar at Disneyland Resort is walk-up only, so no existing reservations were affected by this maintenance closure.
