I haven’t watched the Mandalorian shows, so I’m not likely to watch the movie either, but I hope it’s a hit with Mando fans because I want to see Disney make more Star Wars films. I’d enjoy seeing them break new ground (like something set in the Old Republic), but I’d also like to see the Ben Solo movie give the Sequel characters a more satisfying story arc than they got in The Rise of Skywalker. Kathleen Kennedy hinted that The Hunt for Ben Solo is still under consideration, so here’s hoping!
They did do something with the old republic, it was on the Acolyte its set in the old republic era. I doubt theyll do much more with it since the show absolutely bombed after 2 episodes.
That’s the High Republic in the Acolyte. The show was 100 years before phantom menace. Old Republic spans thousands of years before. They haven’t explored it yet

The Acolyte wasn’t sent in the old republic. It was set in the high Republic of the end of the high Republic. The old republic was thousands of years before that and has tons of stories that need to be told. Has anybody like a reporter ever asked anyone in Lucasfilm about their plans for the old republic in movie form?
I’m really sad to hear the Mando and Grogu movie might no longer be released on the cinema screen. Was very much looking forward to it. It was due in May. Surely it won’t be scrapped in favour of a tv series at this late stage? My hopes were so high for Filoni’s input on his promotion! Bring back Jon Favreau.
I am looking forward to The Mandolorian and Grogu movie. The last Episode of Season 2 of Mandolorian was as good, as exciting and as connected on a level not seen since the original trilogy. It was fantastic! Disney’s problem with Season 3 of Mandolorian and most of its creative releases these past 10 years or so, is the writing. Just look a Bluey. A great story, with a meaningful theme and well-developed plot, and great dialog is far more important than high-tech. Disney needs to completely drop the insertion of politics into every creative piece and Guest interaction. It didn’t work and actually backfired on their business model. The new CEO has much to do to purge this mindset from the company. I am still looking forward to the Mandolorian movie and hope the magic of Seasons 1 and 2 can be recaptured.
Don’t really understand the mando’d out, I love it and want more, streaming would mean more screen time then a movie so I’m for that, don’t care what anyone says. I love Star wars and want more.
“…ultimately vetoed internally amid concerns it would undermine the sequel trilogy’s ending…”. Where were those cooler heads when the sequel trilogy was pitched? The Emperor lives! 💀
The Old Republic is ripe! Full of stories and drama that woul make a great 6+ movie arc. Has any reporter ever asked the higher-ups that Lucas film about their plans for the old republic?
Tell you what’s turning people off, all this wishy-washy s***
Make a decision and stick with it. Stop canceling in the middle. Doesn’t take 3 years to come out with six episodes
Mando movie will be a box office success.
Pedro Pascal has nearly 12m followers on Insta and you think they are not going to watch on the big screen!!!! Of course they are and I can’t wait
Most episodes of the Mando series feels like filler/fluff with no real substance and they don’t seem to advance the storyline. If every Star Wars TV series episode were like episodes 4-12 of Andor season 2, then they’d be a hit. Unfortunately, I think Disney is always trying to stretch things out and milk everything for all its worth, which leads to very bland, mediocre episodes that don’t garner much fan interest.
They should revive the expanded universe books from. The 80s-00s and adapt them for big screen animation. Forget Rey. That character was ridiculous and Grogu is like letting the Muppets take over.

It was a series, a successful series. Its now Lucasfilm fault if it fails as a movie. Once again, lack of direction.

Sooo Disney shelves a successful franchise. But thought it was ok to release the bomb that was snow woke white???

The Mandalorian is my favourite thing to come out of Star Wars so far, Rogue One was one of the best movies.
I hate that Luke, Leia, Solo and Lando never got a scene together.
If I was in charge, I’d go back and recast Luke Skywalker.
Or maybe do a bunch of films with Cal Kestis using the same actor and have him meet Luke. A duo fulm would be awesome.
