The Dial of Destiny should have been Indy and Marian’s last adventure before Indy’s retirement and Mudd taking his place at the university. Instead, we got a dead son, not so great goddaughter (which could have been a romance for Mudd) and a depressed, lonely and drinking Indy, separated from Marian until the last three minutes. This franchise could and should have ended joyfully. I guess the Indiana Jones series did end with a whimper instead of a bang.
