After months of construction, a new guest area has finally arrived in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The change comes weeks after Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort announced plans to shift the land’s timeline, permanently introducing original Star Wars trilogy characters for the first time since the area debuted in 2019.
Batuu Timeline Shift

Earlier this month, Disney announced that it would transition Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge from the original timeline set by Imagineering. Beginning later this year, half of the land will be set in the timeline of the original Lucasfilm trilogy, while the other half will remain set in the sequel era.
As part of this change, Disney is renaming and rebranding the First Order Cargo store as Black Spire Surplus. The shop will no longer sell Dark Side-exclusive merchandise and will include artifacts from the Galactic Civil War (the central conflict in the original George Lucas trilogy). Oga’s Cantina will also undergo minor thematic upgrades as the timeline shift takes the restaurant back several decades. Darth Vader, Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, and Leia Organa will join Chewbacca and the sequel characters in greeting guests around Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge when the timeline shift takes effect.

Disneyland Resort has confirmed that its version of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will transition timelines on April 29, 2026. Walt Disney World Resort hasn’t confirmed an exact date for implementing the change at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
New Guest Area in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge

As Walt Disney World Resort prepares to update Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge permanently, crews have finally finished a project they’ve been working on in the Black Spire Outpost since last summer. According to recent reporting from BlogMickey, a new guest seating area near the Toy Story Land entrance to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is officially complete.
Disney cast members began working on the project last summer, which coincided with the early construction of what eventually became the new Popcorn & Snacks kiosk just steps away in Toy Story Land. The seating area includes several benches that appear carved into the surrounding rock, some light posts for after dark, and, of course, trash cans. Disney has also added wooden tables and stools to the area to provide additional seating.

The area is a much-needed addition near Toy Story Land, where guests have long complained about the lack of available tables for diners at the nearby Woody’s Lunch Box Quick Service dining location. As Disney prepared to open yet another snack stand in the Pixar-themed land, they clearly recognized the increasing need for a place to enjoy their popcorn, ice cream, and Pepperoni Pizza Spring Rolls.
