It’s not wrong to ask yourself such a good question really… I was thinking the same thing after the Disney fanatic jumped at Contemporary Resort last year. These people know the hotline and help are available right …? 😐
It’s not insensitive at all. It’s a legitimate question why one chooses this destination to commit their act. Could be that it’s about maximizing attention to their decision. If they’d done it quietly at their home, possibly no one would hardly hear of it. But do it at a Disney affiliated location and it’s news. My best guess. Nonetheless sad.
Of course someone’s death is sad and it is sad that someone commits suicide.
I know nothing about numbers but with the number of people who visit the Disney parks there have been deaths. The difference now is you have more information spread wider…..then when someone who is thinking suicide reads them they think Disney is an option.
I don’t think you can blame Disney for suicides and it should not shut things down.
Stats are that Disney gets 1-2 deaths a year. So far since mid October after my visit, they’ve exceeded their normal over the course of 5 years. There have been suicides, deaths, fights, disruptive behavior by breaking rules, bans from the parks, fires, etc. This seriously disrupts Disney’s vibe. I’ve had plans to go in April but I just don’t want to deal with the heaviness. Disney is no longer the happiest place on Earth. Not for me anyway. Thank you humanity for destroying Walt’s dreams.
Disney Springs doesn’t have any decent restaurants or stores. As far as I’m concerned, they can close it. Their restaurants and stores are also overpriced.
Why choose to die at the “Most Magical Place on Earth”…a fairytale setting for children and families, a place where Dreams Come True, a place to celebrate life and birthdays, and engagements and weddings? If you want to end your life…fine. Why ruin a special place like Disney World for everyone who wants to live and enjoy the Magic? That behavior is Selfish, Attention-Seeking and just plain evil. I suggest WDW and those outlets that report on the park, and all those bloggers stop making this suicide craze a big deal publicly. It’s just pulling the nutjobs in so they too can be a part of the publicity.
You showed your hand Jimbo, right out of the HS dropout sheep playbook. When you can’t formulate anything intelligent to say call someone a liberal (which I’m not but that’s funny). We actually pity you.

I don’t wish to sound insensitive but who goes to Disney to commit Suicide? Strikes me as strange. May that person RIP. Prayers
