We are regular WDW Guests, with my first visit in 1973. We have also been AP holders for the past 15 years or so. We never minded the reservation system. It only takes a few minutes to check and reserve, and it avoids two scenarios that we did not enjoy. As mentioned in this article, we avoid the very busy days, which in hot weather, are not enjoyable at all. We also avoid the most annoying experience of all — driving to WDW only to find the park is at full capacity and only hotel guests are allowed entry. This only happened a few times to us, but every single time, I said, “Gee, I wish Disney could give us advance notice so we could avoid the drive over here if the park is at capacity.”
This new system for pass holders is great if you live near WDW, but if you don’t, this is ridiculous. You pay an extremely high cost for an annual pass (unless you’re a FL resident), then you can’t necessarily go to a park when you want.
I had hear stories and found out for myself, that the reservation system tends to show no availability for some days, yet if you are a resort guest or buy a special ticket offering, there is reservation availability. Iger is attempting to push annual passes out. He has said that these people don’t spend money in the parks vs the family that makes it a once in a lifetime trip, or weathlier families. He doesn’t get the fact that pass holders & DVC members who go often, are the ones who buy the collectibles and the new items on a constant basis. These are people/families that are guaranteed to come to WDW. It’s only smart business.
or california resodent i mean my ex I’m still friendly wih has the annual pass but is a California resident and uses for regular visits at the California park. and she definately isnt the type who plans out anything on advance shes very much a bipolar spur the moment type person. like she wouldnt know she’s going til she wakes up and decided to go that day ots not pre planned ever. so this new systems definately gonna be a big issue for her (shed also never visit Florida as a trans woman lol)
