Race swapping Snape and now gender swapping Voldemort. Are they trying to outdo Amazon with their ruining of Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings, Paramount with their ruining of Star Trek or Apple and their destruction of Foundation.

Im just glad I bought the films on dvd as I am giving the series a wide berth as its obvious to me they have not even bothered to read the books as thier casting of certain characters proves.
I think if they are going to say they are doing a series to be from the books, then they need to leave the characters alone and go by book descriptions. I am starting to get very disappointed in the casting decisions when they are changing them so drastically. Either stick to the books, or make an entirely different and new series and do whatever you want with it.

Unlike so many HP fans, I don’t have an issue with the casting choice for Snape. His race is irrelevant to the character. I’m not even concerned if they choose a female to portray a male Voldemort (think of Peter Pan always being played by women). However, if they cast a female and also change the character to female, that will be a significant change to the storyline and I don’t see how they could claim that is book accurate. Still, as a huge fan of the books over the movies, I am really looking forward to the HBO series.
Netflix will indeed obtain a ton new subscribers due to the Warner Bros merger. However the ones who subscribe because they know Harry Potter is WB, They will lose alot of new subscribers for no Harry Potter. Sorry to say but thats how it’ll go.
I will not watch the new harry potter series if they cast that creature as Snape who is white. And now saying voldemort to be played by a female? That will be a load of crap. I hate that Netflix is getting rid of the movies. I really enjoy watching them. Netflix I really going downhill lately.
For starters JK Rowling herself was against having her books ‘amercanised’ by having it with a American cast and fimed there. I think the tv show will have the same disdain as Amazon did with the ‘R8ngs of Power’ a reinvention of classic Tolkien lore.
