On December 16, Disneyland Park’s fireworks show was inaccessible to thousands of theme park guests…but not because of anything Disneyland Resort did. Watch what happened via a video from one of the Disney Park guests affected by the unexpected situation.

Disneyland Park Fireworks

Unlike at Walt Disney World Resort, where fireworks light up the sky above Cinderella Castle nightly, Disneyland Park only offers fireworks shows above Sleeping Beauty Castle on select nights. Locals and tourists have to plan their Southern California Disney Park visits around the nighttime entertainment schedule.

Disneyland Park updates its nighttime spectaculars seasonally, offering different themed performances throughout the year. Unlike at Magic Kingdom Park, where the Christmastime fireworks are almost always exclusive to special events like Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, Disneyland Resort currently offers its “Believe…In Holiday Magic” fireworks to all ticketed Disneyland Park guests.

Among fans, Disneyland Park is infamous for canceling fireworks shows due to wind conditions in the area. However, on Tuesday night, the “Believe…In Holiday Magic” nighttime spectacular went on as scheduled…but the weather made it much more difficult for guests to see.

On the evening of December 16, a disappointed guest shared a video of the “Believe…In Holiday Magic” fireworks at Disneyland Park. In the footage, Disney Park guests audibly react as they realize that fog almost completely blocks the view of the magic in the sky from Main Street, U.S.A. From Redditor u/OverCry518:

Several Disney Parks fans commented on the fact that Disneyland Resort is notorious for canceling fireworks due to wind, but didn’t do so when the fog severely impacted the guest experience.

“I’ve been there when they’ve canceled the fireworks for something seemingly less serious than this fog,” u/WanderingStarSoul wrote. “Weird that they would go on with the show in the fog.”

“I’m glad that they still set them off,” u/jrm1985 argued. “A lot of times any weather anomalies they’ll cancel the show.”

“Lmao considering I went 4 times in the past month and went 0/4 on fireworks due to ‘unforeseen circumstances’, this is a W,” said u/Testicle_Eater_Tommy.

Disneyland Resort guests can check the park’s official app or speak with a Disney cast member for the most up-to-date information on entertainment offerings at Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park.
