Grand Flo is really no different than is ever been, at least not with regard to the things mentioned here. It’s always been overpriced compared to other options, it’s always been boring in terms of theming, and it’s always been more formal and stuffy and not so much a kids’ place. The location and transportation options haven’t changed.
What’s changed is the people who have actually stayed there. In the last 5 years people have been increasingly more willing to spurned the money to make every vacation a “dream vacation”, and for many people Grand Floridian was *the* resort where they always dreamed of staying someday. This is similar to how they say to never meet your idols… unrealistic (though not necessarily unwarranted, given the price) expectations make for a decidedly unmagical reality check.

I used DVC points to stay there last this summer. Nice hotel. Wouldn’t pay the actual amount to stay there.

Hasn’t been the same since they got rid of the big band, it’s just not special anymore.
