You say there is no 3rd option for those who used to qualify for DAS program and now do not, however, you are WRONG! The option that A LOT of people are taking is to NOT GO to the parks! Some are still staying at Disney resorts (especially DVC members) and doing things outside of Disney Parks and/or going to Universal parks instead! Disney is in denial!

Punishing those who truly need the DAS because of those who abused the system is so wrong. I have been using the disability system since 2000, before it was DAS. Now I don’t qualify. We are going for 18 days next week through January 4th and this may be our last trip, so sad since I’ve been going every other year since 1971.

I understand, people with physical (or visible) disabilities have their own systems in place so DAS has always been there for those of us with invisible disabilities. I get that the DAS system is easily abused, but unfortunately visitors who actually require it are being turned away. I’ve got both kidney and thyroid disease. I need frequent breaks, tons and tons of water. I get weak easily, sometimes I literally need to lay down and close my eyes. When it gets bad my family says I slur my words and shuffle my feet as though I were drunk, thats just the kidney disease. The thyroid is too many issues to list. At any rate if my illness kicks in while waiting on line I have to get out of line ASAP! And we all know how hard it can be getting out of a long line much less with someone having a medical emergency.
I bought a trip to Disney/Universal for Christmas!, we leave in 25 days. I won’t be bothering to apply for DAS, I dont have autism so I will probably won’t be accepted. I also have a party of 6 and its not fair to other park goers to see 6 people get on before them when each and every one of us looks perfectly normal. I will be taking my chances in regular lines. I do hope though, they find a system that isnt so easily abused
