The Power Rangers are officially morphing back into the spotlight. With a brand-new reboot series in development for streaming service giant Disney+, the iconic, long-running franchise is about to undergo another makeover for modern audiences and longtime fans.

Power Rangers Disney+ Reboot Confirmed

Jonathan E. Steinberg and Dan Shotz, known for Percy Jackson and the Olympians, are attached, signaling a high-profile effort to modernize the brand for a new generation.

During a recent premiere event for Disney+’s Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2, Steinberg confirmed to Movieweb reports from earlier this year, saying, “The rumor [of a Power Rangers reboot] is true. I can not tell you, but I am very, very excited for that story.”

The Power Rangers Could Return to Disney Parks

Now, with a reboot officially underway, the Power Rangers could also be set to return to Disney Parks, provided the show is a success with viewers.

While Disney hasn’t confirmed any theme park plans whatsoever, the history of Power Rangers at Disney certainly suggests possibilities. During the 2000s, characters from the franchise appeared regularly at Disney-MGM Studios (now Disney’s Hollywood Studios).

Though Disney’s television ownership of the long-running series was relatively short-lived, this new reboot could mark a successful return for the iconic color-coded heroes on Disney+.

What Would a Power Rangers Disney Parks Presence Look Like?

If successful, the Disney+ reboot could pave the way for permanent park integrations. Imagine a dedicated Power Rangers attraction at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, complete with interactive elements or a ride that immerses guests in morphing action sequences.

Parades, limited-time shows, character meet-and-greets, stunt shows, or a roller coaster — or all of the above — could bring the beloved franchise back to the Disney World setting.

Whether the new series will revolve around the original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers or a new iteration remains to be seen. But if Hasbro (the current owners) and Disney are smart, they’ll lean into what popularized the superheroes in the first place.

This would be a clever move for both the reboot and a potential Disney Parks presence, as most fans — and perhaps the younger generation, too, owing thanks to a recent Power Rangers event on Fortnite — are more familiar with the aesthetics of that original series: the Command Center, the suits, the Dino Zords, and villains such as Rita Repulsa and Goldar.
