As someone with kids I despise this decision. Disney plus felt like a safe space my kids could explore for shows for a long time, but theres so much content on there thats not family friendly now. Im fine keeping an eye on what my kids are doing, but this just becomes a freedom i have to take away from them through no fault of their own.
That isn’t the problem for my family; it’s easy to Google or online search how to create PIN options and create “Kids” accounts, etc., without the need to take away adult’s night for those not interested in more adult titles. That said, the problem for us lays in double-paying for both Hulu+ and Disney+. I had both, and the hefty bill gets to be an unnecessary expenditure. Until they fix that mess, we might have to wait on making any changes at all. I fear our long-built viewer histories will dissappear as a result, but any answers on that would be greatly appreciated.
I am SO not a Disney+ user, so it will be interesting to find out how this kind of job will affect me as well as my mother, my father snd my step-mother.
Yeah those disney chumps are a bunch of greedy bastards im sick of all the moving around of these apps and buying out other companies just because they can they dont 2 *cks about the customers
Agreed. This is going to ruin the whole app. I’m stressed about my pricing. Right now I get Hulu AND Spotify in a bundle and I refuse to pay anything higher or lose both of them. I hate those Disney dicks now.
As much as I actually enjoy princess Disney films, I do NOT want Disney+. This is precisely why I only have Hulu. So to force me to use it & jack up the price (with warning) to justify it is enough to force me to say goodbye to Hulu & never look back. If enough people pull out & boycott, they will be forced to reconsider their money grubbing strategy
It will become obvious at whatever 2026 date they didn’t name. I would EXPECT some sort of merging of the Live menu options into the app. Disney has always had a simple high level Disney, pixar, Star Wars, national geographic and espn top level. Adding a live doesn’t seem like a stretch.
I do hope they get rid of the silly local validations on Hulu. And I will be tracking their bundled offerings vs the open market. But I will wait and see, with the hope the app navigation gets better. They do have some catching up to do versus YouTube Tv.
What happens to the people who got the $2.99 Black Friday Hulu deal? We had to pay for the whole year up front! Do we know have to subscribe to Disney+ at regular rate and I lose that money I put up front for Hulu?
Exactly!
I even called Disney+ before taking the Black Friday Hulu deal, because I was concerned of exactly this! The Rep specifically said there were *NO PLANS* to merge the apps at this time or next year! I was ASSURED that it would REMAIN SEPARATE during the 2026 promotion! They better keep that promise!
I actually do have both. As a Disney+ non bundle subscriber, the reduced bundle rate wasn’t available. But since I used to get Hulu for free via Sprint before they cut it post T-Mobile merger.. I didn’t have any history with it. I like having the ability to choose between ads/no-ads individually. Not to mention the child-friendly interface of the standalone Disney+.
I knew it would eventually merge, but if they’re actually not doing a year grace period – I don’t think that’s legal. A decision like this isn’t made in less than a month. You don’t offer stand alone Hulu if you know you’re going to shut it down!
I have Hulu Live as well and when this was first announced I think I read somewhere that it will be provided by FubuTV.
Entertainment giant Walt Disney Co. and streaming provider FuboTV agreed Monday to merge their online live TV businesses.
The deal would combine Hulu + Live and the sports-heavy FuboTV and would clear the way for the launch of Venu Sports, a streaming venture from Disney’s ESPN, Warner Bros. Discovery and Fox.
I get my Live TV thru Hulu and there has been no mention of that being offered so how will Disney+ handle that? Will the live TV carry over or do we need to find a new provider for live TV?
I hate how Disney turned into this streaming service where if you want to watch Hulu then you have to pay a lot more. Why can’t we just decide on Hulu or Disney instead of having to pay for both? This really sucked because my favorite show that I am NOT done watching is ONLY on Hulu. So when this “switch” happens I won’t be able to watch my show, along with plenty others that love shows like this. I have a feeling that this “end” of Hulu won’t be gone for long. It seems like a lot of others agree with how this is bad.
I’m glad. As I solely access Hulu shows through my gaming console, or stream the mobile app and use screen mirroring to my smart TV, I prefer the Disney+ UI over Hulu’s (it’s not great). Scrubbing is a nightmare, and subtitles don’t always sync up.
So that’s that!? How is it that you big mogul’s decide what the people want so now we have to pay for Disney+ and Hulu just gets wiped out which never worked that great anyway and was our most expensive app.. we have no choice. We are all victims. Shame on all of you.
Ridiculous. We’ve found numerous shows and movies that are on the Hulu standalone app that we cannot find on the Disney+ app Hulu section. Disney+ Search function doesn’t always find their shows/movies either. They end up being buried in odd sections. It’s the main reason we kept the Hulu app. It’s more intuitive.
What about the Hulu and Spotify bundle? I pay for my Hulu through Spotify so I can have Spotify premium what’s going to happen to that? I don’t want to have to pay for Spotify and Hulu when I get two in one.
Exactly I’ve been wondering this too I know they don’t offer this bundle anymore and those who had it have been grandfathered in But I even contacted Spotify and Hulu and neither had an answer they said they do not have any info on this yet….ummm wth am I losing my Hulu access or is it switching to Disney or is my price getting lowered because I’m not paying the same price for only one service
Ok guys, those on the Hulu Spotify bundle need to start contacting Spotify to voice that outrage. Spotify has to *LET* Disney break the Hulu contract. If Disney removes the Hulu app, it removes Hulu. Moving content to Disney+ doesn’t work. The contract isn’t between Spotify and Disney+. Spotify could sue them and they’d win. (You can’t say Hulu dissolved but keep the name branding.) So.. tell Spotify not to allow Disney out of the contract.. or it’ll result in customer losses during a cancel culture problem.
Same question. I assume T-Mobile will discontinue the tie in and we’ll just have to have a separate Disney+ account. Then the question on local stations. What about traveling? Logging in in another city?
Hulu has a contract with Sprint that T-Mobile is keen to end. But, to end the Hulu-Sprint contract early, someone has to buy the other out. Clearly, T-Mobile wants that to be Disney. T-Mobile also must give at least a 30 day notice before a contract change (that’s either in the T-Mobile contracts or is a general cell company law). Though they prefer 90 days, as that’s how they handled the new $3 charge to keep the Apple TV bonus.
They haven’t announced an end to free Hulu services.. so it’s not actually a done deal. T-Mobile just lost a large amount of customers due to price increases. If you don’t want them to let Disney out of their Hulu contract, tell them exactly how much it matters to you that the offer continues.
I stopped using Disney+ bc the app was garbage I would get randomly logged out of my app and struggle to get logged back in just to turn around an hour later to be randomly logged out again that and it’s too expensive
I just renewed Hulu for a year I had Disney for at least 7 years before I just canceled my subscription this last month due to there $ 30 dollar increase per year again I have had enough of there increases in pricing the lack of new shows and discontinued of series and there selling of there soul to DJ Trump I could not keep paying for less had to settle for ads with Hulu for 99.00 per year but was told it will not liking be available past next year ??? This really sucks I hope the management at Disney gets there head out of there ass soon or they will not have a customer left anymore!!!
Wondering like so many what this means. I too have Hulu through T-mobile. It’s the only perk that I want, as most of their Tuesday deals really don’t speak with me. Without this perk it seems pointless and I will just leave the streaming service for other streamers. Which really stinks, because I was highly looking forward to the new Malcom in the middle.
Another thing. Brand familiarity means something. Remember how Max changed to HBO Maxand now it’s back to Max. Poor customer assessment. Disney will regret this move.
LAST straw for us! Been meaning to cancel BOTH H&D+ since Disney’s bend of knee to djt! Have had too many other things to focus on though. BUT the entire family (ages 8 – 48) has agreed to cut ’em off before first of the year!
WE THE PEOPLE NEED TO TAKE BACK THE POWER & CONTROL.
EVERYONE NEEDS TO BOYCOTT DISNEY ANYTHING VIA AN APP FOR A MINIMUM OF 1 YEAR SO WE CAN HIT THEM IN THEIR POCKETS! *This is the ONLY way we the people can bring greedy money hungry big corporations TO THEIR KNEES. The key is we have to stick together and boycott this bull sh!t as a planet (every country where they operate has to unite to ruin their greedy-ness).
LET’S UNITE AGAINST DISNEY+, HULU ETC and buy nothing from them, no streaming services, movies, tickets, memorabilia, etc. UNITED WE HAVE THE POWER TO PUT THEM IN THEIR PLACE! #UNITE #WeThePeople #WeCanStopBigCorpsGreed #RuinGreedyBigCorps have the balls to boycott everything Disney until Jan 2027 at the earliest to show them WE ARE NOT PAYING OR PLAYING WITH GREEDY CORPS ANYMORE!
all of you guys acting like this is new or news out of nowhere are insane. this has literally been talked about for over 10 years now. Disney founded Hulu with other studios, some of which have sense merged together. They all began talking about who would take complete ownership over the platform several years ago Once Disney bought out the last company five years ago they indicated this was the plan. They announced shut down dates a year and a half ago. Nothing is going away it’s just being centralized together.
If you’re going to write about something like this please actually do your research first instead of making crap up
Making crap up? Like you just did with this whole comment? When and where have these shutdown dates been posted? Do you just love talking out of your ass? LMAO @ over a decade when a decade ago was barely when Hulu first added an ad free plan for their apps. You really love doing what you accuse others of doing huh?
There were no dates. It’s been a, it will eventually happen someday, thing for years. That’s not the same thing.
Not even the customer service reps for Disney+ had any knowledge or expectation for Hulu app discontinuation within the next year. I specifically asked them that question five weeks ago. Zero memos or internal rumors.
Since the price to watch Hulu is going up, I’ll be canceling my subscription.
All you guys say its for your convenience. Always taking more money away from us.
You suck!
Not sure that I am interested in paying more for the same content. I am not even interested in Disney. Only had it for the kid who likes/liked Star wars whose only show he bothered to watch recently was Andor and we know that cannot last long plot wise.
And Hulu’s interface is /was better and cleaner and easier to navigate
Looks like it is time to for me to streamline to save money, like Disney Corp.
Paramount plus and Amazon prime offer plenty of shows to watch.
We just canceled our subscription since Disney was double charging us for 28 months and we started complaining about it over 18 months ago. Disney told us they won’t refund any money so we will never get it again.
Disney doesn’t allow rewinding of a show when it doesn’t start where you left off, rewinding is impossible. I have always hated Disney’s format whhere Hulu was user friendly. Wiill Disney use the same as always?
Well, that ends my subscription. I’m not giving one dime to Disney directly. It’s a disgusting organization who openly promotes Trans ideology and I want NOTHING to do with that.
That part. Zero Interest in any Disney content. I’ve already been on the fence about Hulu since they jacked the price up and have an annoying amount of adds even in older show reruns from 10-15 years ago; minimum of 5 adds. What a joke.
I have both but I likely won’t once Disney+ takes over. Like everything else Disney does, they’ll keep raising prices until folks on a limited income can no longer afford to pay for it at all. I’m very disappointed.
This is a terrible idea. Disney has always been associated with content geared towards children and family and should stay that way. N2M Hulu/Disney+ services are already insanely overpriced with wayyyy too many adds.
For sure I’ll never use Hulu again after this happens. Or Disney for that matter. It’s already horribly overpriced for the ridiculous amount of ads they show. Time to download BT.
Time to look into the call center management structure if this is real. They would be fools to actually follow through with this before 2027.
I honestly have my doubts. Buying Hulu doesn’t end contractual obligations between Hulu and T-Mobile or Spotify. Hulu won’t be under Disney+, its content will. There’s a massive difference.
It’s almost like they are daring us to go back to cable with ALL the different platforms raising their prices so frequently. Just a few months, during the backlash with Disney, Hulu users took the hit and the price increased. YouTube live is looking better and better, daily!
I only use Hulu as my gateway to content on that platform. Now I’ll have to go through Disney? When will the billing information be available, along with what will be offered by the new platform? You can bet that if it’s more money less content or a more confusing and additional time to understand, I’ll be looking elsewhere.

Wonder how it’s going to work for those who have Hulu live tv. I tried going thru the Disney+ app and can’t find the live tv anywhere.

My question also
Michael
No live tv from Hulu will be on Disney+
Keri
Was just thinking this too. How am I going to access my races?
Regenna Griffin
My question too! How do we get live TV and local channels?

I’m just confused. I have both Disney+ and Hulu. When it all goes completely under Disney+ will I still have to pay for Hulu to watch it?
JOE NAJAR
Yeah. they will just jack the price of the disney app up to make up for everything that added to that lame disney app

Yeah this is also their response for losing a lot of subscribers to force them back to Disney…this sucks for real!
Fred
Does anyone know how we will access Hulu + Live TV when the Hulu app is discontinued?
Ron
Sucks. Prob gonna cancel all together. We watch YouTube primarily anyhow

It’s almost like they are daring us to go back to cable with ALL the different platforms raising their prices so frequently. Just a few months, during the backlash with Disney, Hulu users took the hit and the price increased. YouTube live is looking better and better, daily!
Zipper
Last ditch effort to make disney appear profitable cause we all know it been sinking for years.

This will allow me to quit tomorrow . Unless they lower prices. Spending $90 a month and I can’t find something to watch is ridiculous.

I only use Hulu as my gateway to content on that platform. Now I’ll have to go through Disney? When will the billing information be available, along with what will be offered by the new platform? You can bet that if it’s more money less content or a more confusing and additional time to understand, I’ll be looking elsewhere.
