It was quick thinking on the cast members part, trying to prevent any guests from being injured. I really hope the cast member has a full recovery and that all expenses are being covered by the company. That person is a hero and probably saved Disney a big lawsuit. Sounds like Ryan has a great suggestion on how to prevent this from happening again.
