It could be okay, if it is fully immersed in Mexican culture. The name, already leaves to doubt to that. These continued attempts to recreate characters to other cultures seems to be continuing to show that Disney has become fully racist, unfortunately.
Disney will never learn.
They need new “imagineers” that can actually imagine all new stories not remakes of old ones that the screw up.
There’s nothing wrong with making movies for different cultures but give them their princesses , princes and heroes with new stories. Not lazy remakes.
Walt would be so disappointed in today’s imagineers and Disney.
Look Disney, you want a Mexican girlbo– I mean princess, that’s fine. But STOP screwing up classic characters just because you can’t come up with anything new. Sure as heck I will not be watching a Mexican Aurora go into a deep siesta in her hacienda and be awakened by a watered down Mexican man they’ll pick out to be the ‘prince’ IF there’s going to be a prince at all.
In this whole wide world of multi- Cultures, Disney surely can come up with more original stories. Look at Frozen- big hit, based in Scandanavian cultures. Why not take legends and/ or stories from the ORIGINAL PEOPLES of North America? Pochahontas was partly European based and not accurate, despite using an Indigenous cast.
Stories from so many of the Indigenous Cultures across North America
( aka., Turtle Island) and South America could fill the next 5 to 10 years with cultural diversity, and the tropes of adventure, conflict, resolution, maybe a bit of sweet rated G romance, lessons learned and happily ever after. Wake up, Disney!! There’s more to cinematic storytelling than the done-to-de*th European tales! Please- GIVE US SOMETHING NEW!!
Disney sure as heck loves to lose money on these screwed up, left-wing cash grab movies. They didn’t learn their lesson when the little black mermaid flopped. They didn’t learn when Dirt brown flopped miserably. If they haven’t learned now, they never will.
A Mexican Sleeping Beauty? Seriously?! 😒 Super hard pass on this. In the first place, STOP SCREWING CLASSIC FAIRY TALES WITH DEI TRASH. You already screwed the story with the Maleficent mother-figure/daughter figure AU movie. Second, I’m sure she’ll be a girlboss who will dance through the street with her Chihuahua and/or burro sidekick and sing about how she’s supposed to be the girl she’s meant to be then go rescue the prince from the misunderstood Mexican Maleficent.
Another classic story down the toilet. I know they already twisted it with Maleficent but this is even worse. Disney already knows (and obviously does not care one tiny bit) how the audience feels about century old stories getting “modern twists” and screwed with Demoncrat ideology. Isn’t Sleeping Beauty a German story? If so, Germany should sue Disney just as they should’ve done over the Snow Not-White controversy.

No Disney. Just no.

Disney once again destroying a classic tale. First we had a black Little Mermaid, a brown Snow White. Now we’re getting a Mexican Aurora. Sickening.

Another classic tale to suffer under the DEI hands of Disney. *Sigh* So sad. Walt would be so disappointed.
