If there were a theme for 2026 at the Walt Disney World Resort, it would be construction. Disney has significant construction projects at Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, and Hollywood Studios that are already underway and are not expected to be finished until at least 2027.

That means next year, Disney visitors will be looking at lots of construction walls throughout the parks. However, those construction walls aren’t just contained within the parks. Disney is now moving them to the Resort Hotels as well.
In August, Disney World announced that the refurbishment schedule for the Beach and Yacht Clubs would be extended into 2027. The work was initially set to end in October; however, Disney has pushed the work on the two luxury hotels out another year.

Now, Disney has added a second EPCOT area Resort to the list of hotels getting some updating. This afternoon, Disney announced that the Boardwalk Inn will undergo its own refurbishment starting later this year and lasting through 2026. Here’s the announcement on Disney World’s website:
Beginning late November 2025 and continuing throughout 2026, refurbishment work will take place in select areas of Disney’s BoardWalk Inn. While Guests may see or hear work during daytime hours, most Resort amenities—including dining, recreation, and merchandise locations—will remain available.

The announcement is not specific about what will be updated at Boardwalk, but we already know that the pool area will undergo its own refurbishment in 2027. That will include updates to the Luna Park Pool, the Luna Park Crazy Play Area, and Leaping Horse Libations.
The Boardwalk itself needs some attention, too, as many of the shops/restaurants have closed. Jellyrolls, the dualing piano bar, the Big River Grille and Brewing Company, and the Promenade Fine Art Gallery have all closed recently, and Disney has yet to announce a replacement for any of them, leaving three empty buildings on the Boardwalk.

For now, it’s just one more construction project in a long list for Disney World in 2026. Fans will be holding their breath until 2027 when, hopefully, all this construction will finally be finished.
Will the construction projects at Disney World keep you from going in 2026? Let us know in the comments.
