There are so many quality restaurants at EPCOT that it’s easy to overlook some, especially those in the front end of the park. Disney has recently recognized that some people are overlooking one restaurant in particular and has made a significant change to its service.

This morning, Disney World made a change to its website, removing the lunch service from the Coral Reef Restaurant inside the Seas Pavilion at EPCOT. The restaurant has been maligned in the past, with guests passing over the restaurant for some of its more popular brethren in the rest of the park.

While Disney World has not made an official announcement on when Coral Reef will stop its lunch service, Disney has made changes to its reservation calendar, which has caused some confusion among guests.

According to the operating hours posted on Disney World’s website, Coral Reef will close for lunch service on January 12, 2026, so the final day for lunch service will be on January 11. However, according to the reservation calendar on Disney’s website, lunch service will end on January 4, meaning the last day with available reservations is January 3.

It’s also unclear whether this is just a glitch in the reservation system or if Disney World plans to end lunch service at Coral Reef even sooner.

Since Disney World has not announced this change, it’s also unclear exactly why this is happening. However, there are some clues from guests’ responses to the restaurant.

Some guests have argued in the past that the Coral Reef Restaurant is the “most overlooked” and “forgotten” restaurant at Disney World. They point to its limited menu and limited seating around the aquarium for its low rating.

Most guests agreed that with so many choices available at EPCOT, it’s easy to overlook the Coral Reef Restaurant, and with such a limited menu, there’s no reason to go back there more than once.

Perhaps this is why Disney chose to cut its lunch service. With so few reservations, maybe it wasn’t financially viable to open the restaurant for lunch service.

Coral Reef will be open from 4:00 to park close starting in January. Beyond that, we’ll just have to wait and see what Disney World has in store for us.
