New permits are being filed all the time at Walt Disney World as the resort continues pushing through one of its most transformational eras yet. Guests can see all kinds of significant changes around the four theme parks, with new lands, rides, attractions, shows, and other experiences on the way.

However, attention is being put on classic attractions too.

A new Notice of Commencement has been filed for Walt Disney World’s Enchanted Tiki Room at the Magic Kingdom. The new permit lists PCL Construction as the contractor and will include “General Construction.” According to sources, the permit was filed by Facilities Asset Management (FAM), which pertains to infrastructure work. This means there won’t be any significant changes to the actual show or its theme.

Walt Disney World has not announced any planned refurbishment for the Enchanted Tiki Room, although several projects have taken place near the iconic attraction within the park’s Adventureland.

The new permit expires November 4, 2026.

The Enchanted Tiki Room, a quasi-live show featuring dozens of animatronic birds, flowers, and other critters, is perhaps one of Disney’s best and most iconic attractions to date.

The Tiki Room itself was the first attraction at Disneyland to feature audio-animatronic figures, although the tree waiting outside the show hasn’t worked properly in years, a problem that will soon be addressed. Since its debut in 1963, Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room has been added to other parks, including Magic Kingdom and Tokyo Disneyland.

Walt Disney World infamously renovated its version of the attraction in 1998. With this update, the attraction received a new name, Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room Under New Management, and featured new animatronic characters based on Aladdin and The Lion King.

To say this update was poorly received would be an understatement, as many fans felt the new version of the Tiki Room paled in comparison to the original. This version of the Tiki Room lasted through 2011, at which point it returned to normal.

The attraction has been serving up funny jokes, relaxing serenades, and incredible storytelling ever since.
