I was on the ride last night, Nov. 17, when the boat started slowing down and finally stopped. It was around 7:30pm when I texted my brother at home, that I had a feeling that we were all about to be evacuated from our boat. I was finally escorted off the boat at 8:00pm. When I got off I was instructed to follow the CM to the exit, which turns out we were just about at the end of the ride anyway. I started singing “We’re Following the Leader” from Peter Pan. I think the CM enjoyed the light-heartedness of the song with the situation.
Jess Colopy, thank you for posting this article! My wife and I were in the second row of this ill-fated boat. My wife first noticed something was not right about 2/3 of the way through the ride when her bag that she set on the floor was getting wet. There was about 1″ of water on the floor at that time. That’s when the people in the front row let us know that their floor was completely flooded halfway up to their knees. Several people tried moving around to reduce the weight up front, but it really didn’t help. As people moved around the boat started tipping to the left and then to the right, and that made it fill up even faster. Apparently, I was the captain of this boat though, because I was the last one to abandon the “ship” with a lot of help from my shipmates. Because I was standing on the seat instead of the floor (because the floor was totally full of water by then), when my shipmates pulled me out of the boat I bumped my head on the roof of the boat. You can see that happen in the video by @michellewalksdisney.
