Disney has been facing a wave of frustration from Marvel fans, and much of it stems from how certain characters were handled once the MCU came fully under Disney’s direction. Some were changed too much, some were pushed into the background, and others were dropped before they even got started. Fans aren’t asking for much—they just want these characters to get another chance, and honestly, they deserve it.
Marvel has major things coming up, especially with Doctor Doom (Robert Downey Jr.) preparing to enter the picture. The studio is building toward massive team-ups, bigger threats, and a refreshed direction for the MCU. It’s an exciting time, but it could be even better if Marvel brought back a few characters who never got to reach their full potential. These seven would add real weight to the future Avengers movies or even the next phase of the MCU.

The Mandarin
Marvel gave fans a clever twist years ago, but the desire for the real Mandarin never went away. Wenwu (Tony Leung Chiu-wai) in Shang-Chi (Simu Liu) was fantastic, but he wasn’t the classic version many expected. The actual Mandarin—powered by the Ten Rings, ruthless in strategy, and deeply tied to Marvel’s cosmic lore—could reshape the MCU’s power balance.
He brings abilities ranging from energy blasts to gravity manipulation, and his presence would add tension the franchise hasn’t had in a while. With Doctor Doom rising, the MCU needs villains who can match his scale, and the actual Mandarin fits that perfectly.

Taskmaster
The Taskmaster (Olga Kurylenko) in Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) wasn’t the personality-filled, sharp-tongued fighter fans know from the comics. Disney dialed the character way down, leaving audiences without the intimidating, mimic-fighting character they expected. The real Taskmaster possesses photographic reflexes, effortlessly copying fighting styles from heroes like Captain America and Black Panther.
That version could shine in upcoming street-level Marvel projects, especially with more grounded heroes returning. Fans want the version with attitude, confidence, and danger—not the muted take we got the first time around.

The Eternals
Eternals introduced a massive cast of powerful characters and then left their story hanging. Sersi (Gemma Chan), Makkari (Lauren Ridloff), Druig (Barry Keoghan), Thena (Angelina Jolie)—each of them brought something unique, and their connection to the Celestials opened a door to cosmic storylines Marvel hasn’t touched since.
Fans still want answers about Arishem and the fate of the team members taken at the end of the film. These characters weren’t mishandled because they were bad—they were mishandled because Marvel set them up for huge things, then went silent. Bringing them back could add scale and depth to the MCU’s next big chapters.
Dar-Benn
The Marvels moved fast, and Dar-Benn (Zawe Ashton) never got the chance to evolve into a truly menacing villain. Her motivations made sense, her powers were dangerous, and her presence could have carried a lot more weight. Instead, she came and went before fans had time to understand her.
A Variant or alternate version could give Marvel a second shot. Her energy-manipulating abilities make her a substantial cosmic threat, and a more developed version of Dar-Benn could bring real tension to future storylines.

Monica Rambeau
Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris) gained incredible powers in WandaVision, but Disney never gave her a spotlight moment. Then, in The Marvels, she stepped into another supporting role and spent most of the movie reacting instead of leading.
Fans know she’s one of the strongest characters Marvel has introduced in years. She can manipulate energy, transform her body into light, and absorb attacks that would take down most heroes. Her comeback is overdue, and giving her a leading role could instantly elevate the following Avengers lineup.

America Chavez
America Chavez (Xochitl Gomez) has one of the most essential abilities in the MCU: she can open portals across the entire Multiverse. Her debut in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness positioned her as a key character for the next saga… then she quietly took a step back.
Fans want development, training, and real story progression. With multiversal threats still playing a significant role, America should be at the center of it all. She could connect heroes, worlds, and timelines in ways no one else can.

Quicksilver
Quicksilver’s (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) exit remains one of the most frustrating moments under Disney’s MCU era. He arrived with huge potential and left almost immediately. His speed, reflexes, and battle-shifting abilities barely had time to shine before Marvel wrote him out.
However, the Multiverse now provides the studio with an easy way to bring him back. Fans still talk about how much more he could’ve done, and this is one character who deserves a proper second chance.

What Their Return Would Mean for the MCU
Bringing these characters back wouldn’t just please longtime fans—it would give the MCU something it genuinely needs right now. Marvel is entering a chapter filled with multiversal chaos, cosmic threats, and villains more complex than anything the franchise has tackled before. Characters like these can raise the stakes, deepen team dynamics, and fill the gaps left behind by departed heroes.
Each one adds something unique. Some bring raw power. Some bring emotional weight. Others bring the kind of personality that instantly elevates a scene. As the MCU prepares for Doctor Doom, new Avengers lineups, and whatever comes after the Multiverse Saga, the franchise could use familiar characters who still have room to grow. Their stories aren’t finished, and Marvel knows the audience hasn’t let them go.
If Disney gives these characters another shot, the entire MCU could feel revitalized heading into its next era.
