You know what would be amazing? If everyone stood on the same line and the only option to “skip the line” is a vip tour. You know, that way everyone has a good experience with minimum wait times? These line monetizations have ruined the theme park experience. I wonder how long before consumers strike back?
I 100% agree! I have loved theme parks for many years and have been completely aggravated and angered by these constant money making scams. 1 line, 1 ride, 1way!!
Ater paying high admission prices (Disney & Universal) I would not pay extra for a ride. More like a carnival when you would pay per ride. Why not go back to tickets and people just buy tickets for rides they want. (For me that would be good as I can’t ride many of the rides.) With prices so high me and other family members have lost the urge to go to Disney. Universal has new things so a visit there may be ok.
I visit Disney and Universal annually. I prefer Disney’s Multi LL any day over express pass. With Disney you are guaranteed 3 rides to start your day and the cost is a tenth of what Universal Express Pass cost during peak season. I paid 39.00 per person for a Family of four at Magic Kingdom. Meanwhile, Universal Express Pass cost during peak season was 300.00 per person for a family of 4 totaling 1200 just to skip the lines. Our friends didn’t buy the pass at Universal and were miserable, they only rode 3 rides all day. Universal is Express pass or be miserable during any peak season. Disney’s model is light years ahead of them.
Totally agree, I was confused this summer when I tried to buy express pass from Universal for Hagrids ride ONLY. They explained you have to purchase the package that includes all rides. Where at Disney it’s ~$17 per ride pass.
We just came back from Universal and I will not go back. I didn’t purchase the express pass as the ticket prices where high enough, but we did stay on property so we had early access. The wait times were 3 hours or more because we didn’t have express pass. The rides at Epic were constantly being delayed, the wait time for the Harry Potter ride was 4 hours. We watched the cars for the Donkey Kong ride stop dead on the tracks, waited 2 hours to ride, but another delay and we left. The only people riding were express pass. I told my kids that I won’t go back.
My husband and I went to epic universe about 3 weeks ago and we did buy the express passes but were surprised to learn that so far into the fast line it merges with the regular line. So it only puts you so far ahead. Not to the very beginning of the line. If it weren’t for that we would have been ok with paying the extra. If you got it, you got it.
Money grab that is why the Disney parks have lower ticket sales. Nobody wants to be gouged to go on rides after paying increased ticket prices. Completely unnecessary way of pricing out families which should be your target to sell tickets

I much prefer how Universal does this today vs the current Disney approach.
