I’m not sure its about the communal seating as it is about Disney just trying to pack people in to maximize profits. They did this at Oga’s. as well. Servers saying you have this standing spot next to a ledge..if you leave we will give your ledge to someone else… People are on vacation, paying a lot of money to be there.. Disney should try to maximize the enjoyment to make people want to come back..not just try to get as many people thru the experiences as possible.
Disney does the same thing on their cruise ships. The difference with that is that you rotate restaurants and you have all of the same guests sitting with you each time (as well as your serving staff). So there is the opportunity to feel a bit more comfortable with one another each night. As far as communal seating for one visit, that isn’t for me at all.
