Disney has confirmed the abrupt closure of Mickey’s PhilharMagic at Magic Kingdom Park.
The 3D musical attraction first opened in 2003, replacing The Legend of the Lion King in the Fantasyland Theater. The show follows Donald Duck as he borrows Mickey’s sorcerer’s hat and is whisked through beloved scenes from Disney classics, including Beauty and the Beast (1991), The Little Mermaid (1989), and Peter Pan (1953).

With the aid of their 3D “opera glasses,” the audience is thrown right into the middle of Donald’s adventures.
Over the years, Mickey’s PhilharMagic became a fan favorite for its nostalgia and immersive effects (including that iconic apple pie scent during the Beauty and the Beast “Be Our Guest” sequence). In 2021, a new scene from Coco (2017) featuring “Un Poco Loco” was added as part of Walt Disney World’s 50th anniversary.
It’s also inspired other versions of the attractions at Disney parks worldwide. As of 2025, you can find Mickey’s PhilharMagic in Fantasyland at Hong Kong Disneyland and Tokyo Disneyland, Discoveryland at Disneyland Paris, and Hollywood Land at Disney California Adventure, where it’s currently closed for refurbishment.

The OG version of Mickey’s PhilharMagic, however, will soon be closed to all guests. Disney has announced a last-minute refurbishment for the attraction.
Closure and Refurbishment Details
Disney has announced that Mickey’s PhilharMagic will close on November 1, 2025.
The closure is currently scheduled to last three weeks, with the attraction set to reopen on November 23, just in time for the busy Thanksgiving season.
During its closure, the theater seats will reportedly be replaced.
This isn’t the only closure at Disney World in November. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is in the midst of a much longer refurbishment, with Walt Disney Imagineering adding new effects to the iconic roller coaster and replacing its track. It’s currently slated to reopen in 2026.

Meanwhile, guests are also unable to ride Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin right now. The attraction closed in August for a lengthy refurbishment, during which it will receive new ride vehicles, laser blasters, and a new character named Buddy. Like Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, it’s set to reopen next year.
Earlier this year, the Rivers of America and Tom Sawyer Island closed down for good as Disney prepares to add a new Cars land to Magic Kingdom. While the decision has been widely criticized by diehard Disney fans, concept art for the new Piston Peak National Park area looks promising, especially for passionate Pixar fans.
Beyond Magic Kingdom, Kali River Rapids closed for refurbishment at Disney’s Animal Kingdom earlier this week and will remain closed until December.
