Saying Henry felt more like Superman is crazy that man was a destruction prone disaster. David literally looks like he was pulled out of the comics and his character showed empathy to the smallest of matters and creatures. He was an actual symbol of hope and of being a better person. Superman is not guardians of the galaxy. Unfortunately Gunn tried to make it so. Some parts of his movie was okay but it was not Superman it was more of a guardians of the galaxy clone. As for the political aspect leave that out it just wasn’t a very good movie as a whole and corensweat was okay but not a good a Superman as Cavill was. I liked Henry, Tyler and Tom, if you look at the original comics it was a feel good kind of thing, supes has always been about truth justice and the American way, but with the advent of the internet and the Interconnectivity of the whole world doesn’t the message change? each supes actor does it the best that they can. Cavill’s Superman wasn’t just a guy in a cape — he carried this quiet, tragic weight. The whole Man of Steel tone revolved around that feeling of isolation, responsibility, and the pain of being too powerful for the world he’s trying to belong to. Say what you want about Snyder’s direction, but that movie gave Superman mythic gravitas — like a modern god trying to live as a man.
The new Superman (2025) with Corenswet went for something totally different — more Golden Age optimism, “truth, justice, and a better tomorrow” energy. Which is fine for people who wanted a lighter, hopeful Superman again, but even if the DCEU stumbled later, Man of Steel had a vision. It treated Superman as a tragic epic, not a Saturday morning hero. Whether people liked that tone or not, it had weight.

To be honest I don’t know why they didn’t bring him back in the first place! There are so many stories that can be told that he fits in. One with the Justice league fighting Brainiac and expanding on his past. Also not using Ben as Batman is a huge mistake in my humble opinion. Taking the opportunity to tell the stories of an aging Batman is a franchise lost! Aflac is at the right age to tell those stories and many of us would love to see that come to the screen. The critics don’t seem to really have a clue and instead you should be listening to the fans because we’re the ones buying the tickets or streaming.
Restore The SnyderVerse! Let him complete the Darkseid saga and see how Warner Bros flourish again.

Ironically the super dog Krypto was the most corny dumb idea to bee added to the latest Superman film. That alone was enough for me to note take the film seriously as a superhero film. The super dog was a dumb idea in the comics that was rightfully written out of existing modern day canon, and should never have been added to the latest iteration of Superman in live action film.

IDK what this comment section is smoking, but I don’t want it. I didn’t grow up with either Superman movie, and I’ve now seen both. I personally prefer Superman 2025 because of how much it made me believe the world could be a better place. It has flaws, yes, but the box office shouldn’t be the be all end all indicator of the movie’s quality. It’s fun, actually has color, and makes you leave the theater with hope for a better tomorrow. Clark isn’t a distant god, he’s a flawed person who still gets back up and tries to do the right thing. Man of Steel wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be, and I like Henry Cavill, but clamoring for him to replace Corenswet makes you look so childish. That era is over, and if you don’t like it, you can stick with the movies Snyder already made. Man of Steel had a tight plot, but the characters felt like cardboard cutouts. They are not paper thin, but I ask you to name one thing that Cavill’s Clark likes as a person outside of the typical family, Lois, truth, justice and heroism.

No, Superman is NOT a “dark character”. That’s the entire point. Batman is literally the opposite of Superman: no superpowers, not from another planet, not optimistic like Clark Kent. That’s what makes Superman the best foil to Batman’s character. That is quite literally why Superman is the face of Action Comics while Batman is the face of Detective Comics aka DC Comics.
There is a balance that needs to be done in order for Superman and Batman to coexist. But you also have to understand that it CAN be done because the majority of these comics are essentially based on Greek mythology: Batman is to represent Hades while Superman represents Hercules, Wonder Woman would be Athena, Flash is Hermes, Aquaman is Posiedon. Once you understand this, you’ll begin to understand how ALL these characters can be written together in one solid narrative.
That is why the Zack Snyder films do NOT pale in comparison to the source material. Superman is the beacon of hope. He is literally an illegal alien that’s pursued for having the abilities of a god. Sure, he’s much like the Jesus figure. I’ll give you that. Even still, he doesn’t kill.

His birth certificate is shown in the comics where he is listed with a “birthplace” of “Smallville, KS” and it states he was legally adopted by the Kents. Therefore, he is a legal U.S. citizen, something we could use more of, and not an illegal alien, something we need none of. Furthermore, he is shown voting in elections as Clark Kent in the comics. The new Superman movie was a joke. He was depicted as a weak, bargain bin hero. He got his a@@ handed to him the entire movie. The Fortress of Solitude was campy with the robots and he and Lois had absolutely no chemistry.

I went to see Superman… because it’s Superman; but I haven’t even rewatched on streaming. My 14-yr old Grandson said Fantastic Four was better. That says it all. The DCEU is dead and buried. It isn’t coming back. They even reshot scenes from Peacemaker to remove the old DCEU Justice League. Superman 25 is a better movie than Man of Steel too, the low numbers is because 1. There’s a fatigue in superhero movies. 2. Ticket sales in cinemas have not gotten back to Pre-Covid numbers. 3. Ticket prices are higher so less people buy them. 4. Steaming services are outperforming cinemas. 5. Fans were so disappointed in the DCEU that they had no faith in DC anymore.

Gunn has taken a workable and adult DCU and made it “Kiddie time with cute puppy’s” and a brat Supergirl. Snyder instead of treating us like kids, he gave us Cavell and Aflick and we felt the depth and maturity of the DCU. And I loved the 4hour remake of JL. (Only gripe about it was that there was no Green Latern)

It’s totally fine to like the more mature tone of the Snyder movies, but Superman isn’t just for adults. Children should be able to enjoy and look up to him too. If the new Superman is enjoyable to both adults and kids, than I think that’s awesome. If you want a more recent mature superman story, than how about you read Absolute Superman. It’s really good! Calling Supergirl a “brat” make me wonder if you know anything about her. She was older than Kal when Krypton exploded, so she fully knows how much she lost. She’s a traumatized young woman with unhealthy coping mechanisms, those of which will probably be addressed in her movie. Relax. The door is open for adults, the only thing keeping you out is yourself.

The thing about this is that DCEU/Snyderverse only had a couple good movies. Yes, Gunn’s new DCU timeline may be confusing BUT I’m willing to deal with that. Why? Because Gunn is going to introduce characters that have barely been used on screen in DC’s live action tv shows, let alone on the big screen. Yes, some of the characters have had some screen time before but not anything solid. Best case scenario, Gunn and Snyder’s versions of the DCU run parallel to each other.

To be honest, the Superhero bubble seems to have very much burst (finally!) with even Marvel seeing a huge downturn in interest. Audiences are finally learning to discriminate between money grabbing grap and actual quality, hence the love for Matt Reeves ‘ Batman and the apathy for pretty much everything else Superhero related these days.

Henry Cavill is Superman to me. However the 2025 movie having Superman get beat up and los a fight didn’t resonate with me. That’s me. And that’s ok. That movie was way different than I’m used to. I don’t think Henry would have wanted to pull that off. Mr. Cavill has a certain kind of Upper Class orah about him. Like I can totally see him as a James Bond for sure.
What about Batman vs. Aliens from Dark Horse collection from the 90’s. Might be good if done right. Great crossover idea.
Snyders vision is too dark, too depressing, and too screwed up. Although his storylines were good, they weren’t great. His versions of these characters were way too off the rails, which is why people hated them. Snyder was working too hard to create his own personal universe, which only worked with Shazam and Aquaman.
Cavill is NOT Superman and Gadot is as far from Wonder Woman as you can get. These were just people in costumes. Even Cavill was stated as saying he’s done with the role, which is why they had to do some CGI work to keep him in the last movie.
They completely destroyed Wonder Woman all the way around. SO much they got wrong in the storyline, SO much they screwed up in the movie. The writers and director even stated in an interview, NONE of them read any of the comics or background stories on Wonder Woman…..which makes sense to the fact that movie was a heinous abomination.
Gunns visions are the way the classic heros are to be presented………..big color, big images, lots of light. Hopefully he does justice (no pun intended) to the Wonder Woman movie. His Batman is already getting boo’ed, but I’m reserving my opinion until I see the movie. But from the stills I’ve seen, he looks completely capable of the role.
Snyder is whack in the head if he thinks his characters rule. ROFL. Even with the excellent choices for the characters Aquaman and Flash, and Shazam, it’s not enough to pave over what he’s done.
The new Superman has a bad script to begin with! The opening scenes where Superman gets beat up by Ultraman is more cartoonish than anything else. The scripting over-hypes Lex’s fight directions to Ultraman because it’s ridiculous how Superman would just charge straight into his grasp. Anyone with knowledge of the various Superman foes knows that Ultraman is a version of Superman himself. Then with the twist known that he’s actually an imperfect clone makes it even nore improbable that he could beat Superman at all! Add the clunky metal suit to the mix & it’s Ultraman who was the one fighting at a disadvantage. Then there Superman’s apparent need to be assisted to get to his Fortress of Solitude. The time it took to get Krypto to take him to the fortress was more than enough time for Superman to heal on his own.

Cavill’s Superman wasn’t just a guy in a cape — he carried this quiet, tragic weight. The whole Man of Steel tone revolved around that feeling of isolation, responsibility, and the pain of being too powerful for the world he’s trying to belong to. Say what you want about Snyder’s direction, but that movie gave Superman mythic gravitas — like a modern god trying to live as a man.
The new Superman (2025) with Corenswet went for something totally different — more Golden Age optimism, “truth, justice, and a better tomorrow” energy. Which is fine for people who wanted a lighter, hopeful Superman again, but even if the DCEU stumbled later, Man of Steel had a vision. It treated Superman as a tragic epic, not a Saturday morning hero. Whether people liked that tone or not, it had weight.
I think Cavill’s Superman felt more realistic or just more emotionally grounded.

To be honest I don’t know why they didn’t bring him back in the first place! There are so many stories that can be told that he fits in. One with the Justice league fighting Brainiac and expanding on his past. Also not using Ben as Batman is a huge mistake in my humble opinion. Taking the opportunity to tell the stories of an aging Batman is a franchise lost! Aflac is at the right age to tell those stories and many of us would love to see that come to the screen. The critics don’t seem to really have a clue and instead you should be listening to the fans because we’re the ones buying the tickets or streaming.

I personally prefer Superman 2025 because of how much it made me believe the world could be a better place. It has flaws, yes, but the box office shouldn’t be the be all end all indicator of the movie’s quality. It’s fun, actually has color, and makes you leave the theater with hope for a better tomorrow. Clark isn’t a distant god, he’s a flawed person who still gets back up and tries to do the right thing. That era is over, and if you don’t like it, you can stick with the movies Snyder already made. Man of Steel had a tight plot, but the characters felt like cardboard cutouts. I liked Henry’s Superman but I would have to agree with Bitsy’s comment. The 2025 Superman movie gives the best message for a real idea of what Superman would be in our world. It is more relatable and realistic. My vote is to keep moving forward, Superman is becoming more real with each movie made, and that’s something worth seeing.

No, Superman is NOT a “dark character”. That’s the entire point. Batman is literally the opposite of Superman: no superpowers, not from another planet, not optimistic like Clark Kent. That’s what makes Superman the best foil to Batman’s character. That is quite literally why Superman is the face of Action Comics while Batman is the face of Detective Comics aka DC Comics.
There is a balance that needs to be done in order for Superman and Batman to coexist. But you also have to understand that it CAN be done because the majority of these comics are essentially based on Greek mythology: Batman is to represent Hades while Superman represents Hercules, Wonder Woman would be Athena, Flash is Hermes, Aquaman is Posiedon. Once you understand this, you’ll begin to understand how ALL these characters can be written together in one solid narrative.
That is why the Zack Snyder films do NOT pale in comparison to the source material. Superman is the beacon of hope. He is literally an illegal alien that’s pursued for having the abilities of a god. Sure, he’s much like the Jesus figure. I’ll give you that. Even still, he doesn’t kill.

The DCEU is dead and buried. It isn’t coming back. They even reshot scenes from Peacemaker to remove the old DCEU Justice League. Superman 25 is a better movie than Man of Steel too, the low numbers is because 1. There’s a fatigue in superhero movies. 2. Ticket sales in cinemas have not gotten back to Pre-Covid numbers. 3. If the new Superman is enjoyable to both adults and kids, than I think that’s awesome. If you want a more recent mature superman story, than how about you read Absolute Superman. It’s really good! Calling Supergirl a “brat” make me wonder if you know anything about her. She was older than Kal when Krypton exploded, so she fully knows how much she lost. She’s a traumatized young woman with unhealthy coping mechanisms, those of which will probably be addressed in her movie. Relax. The thing about this is that DCEU/Snyderverse only had a couple good movies. Yes, Gunn’s new DCU timeline may be confusing BUT I’m willing to deal with that. Why? Because Gunn is going to introduce characters that have barely been used on screen in DC’s live action tv shows, let alone on the big screen. Snyders vision is too dark, too depressing, and too screwed up. Although his storylines were good, they weren’t great. His versions of these characters were way too off the rails, which is why people hated them. Snyder was working too hard to create his own personal universe, which only worked with Shazam and Aquaman.
Cavill is NOT Superman and Gadot is as far from Wonder Woman as you can get. These were just people in costumes. Even Cavill was stated as saying he’s done with the role, which is why they had to do some CGI work to keep him in the last movie.
They completely destroyed Wonder Woman all the way around. SO much they got wrong in the storyline, SO much they screwed up in the movie. The writers and director even stated in an interview, NONE of them read any of the comics or background stories on Wonder Woman…..which makes sense to the fact that movie was a heinous abomination.
Gunns visions are the way the classic heros are to be presented………..big color, big images, lots of light. Hopefully he does justice (no pun intended) to the Wonder Woman movie. His Batman is already getting boo’ed, but I’m reserving my opinion until I see the movie. But from the stills I’ve seen, he looks completely capable of the role.
Snyder is whack in the head if he thinks his characters rule. ROFL. Even with the excellent choices for the characters Aquaman and Flash, and Shazam, it’s not enough to pave over what he’s done.

The new Superman has a bad script to begin with! The opening scenes where Superman gets beat up by Ultraman is more cartoonish than anything else. The scripting over-hypes Lex’s fight directions to Ultraman because it’s ridiculous how Superman would just charge straight into his grasp. Anyone with knowledge of the various Superman foes knows that Ultraman is a version of Superman himself. Then with the twist known that he’s actually an imperfect clone makes it even nore improbable that he could beat Superman at all! Add the clunky metal suit to the mix & it’s Ultraman who was the one fighting at a disadvantage. Then there Superman’s apparent need to be assisted to get to his Fortress of Solitude. The time it took to get Krypto to take him to the fortress was more than enough time for Superman to heal on his own.
