Excitement is ramping up for the James Bond video game, “007 First Light”. Set to be released in March 2026, the new title will focus on a young version of the iconic MI6 agent, played by Dexter: Original Sin‘s Patrick Gibson, before he acquires his iconic 00 status.

Trailers and gameplay showcases promise familiar spy gadgets, high-speed chases, other iconic characters, and a mix of stealth, combat, and decision-driven missions.

Now, according to Gaming Bible, singer-songwriter Lana Del Rey is believed to have written a song for the game’s opening credits. The track, reportedly titled “First Light,” shares its name with the game and could set the tone for the next chapter in the 007 franchise.

Del Rey recently registered the song with ASCAP, the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers, fueling speculation about her involvement.

While the artist also has a new album in the works, the title is likely no coincidence.

Bond fans are undoubtedly familiar with iconic theme songs that have helped shape the franchise. Adele’s Oscar-winning “Skyfall” for the film of the same name defined Daniel Craig’s tenure, while Sam Smith and Billie Eilish brought modern touches to Spectre and No Time to Die with their respective tracks, “Writing’s On the Wall” and “No Time to Die”.

Perhaps the most notable Craig-era song, though, is from the late rock legend Chris Cornell, who performed “You Know My Name” for the film Casino Royale (2006).

Going further back, Pierce Brosnan’s era featured memorable tracks by artists including Tina Turner (GoldenEye), Garbage (The World Is Not Enough), and Madonna (Die Another Day).

A well-chosen opening song has long been a hallmark of 007 storytelling, and if the rumors are true, Del Rey will undoubtedly bring her own moody flavor to the franchise.

As for the upcoming film reboot from Denis Villeneuve, casting for a younger James Bond will begin next year once the director completes filming on Dune: Part Three.

Villeneuve, known for Blade Runner 2049 (2017) and Dune (Parts One and Two), is helming the highly anticipated 007 reboot, with longtime producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson having handed over creative control to Amazon MGM.

While the live-action film focuses on reinventing the spy for a new generation, “007 First Light” will offer fans a more traditional James Bond outing.
