Inclement weather is affecting thousands of Disney vacations, as both Walt Disney World Resort and the Disney Cruise Line suffer operational impacts from recent storms. On Monday, the National Weather Service (NWS) issued its second flood warning for the Walt Disney World Resort and Universal Orlando Resort area, advising residents and visitors in Central Florida to be aware of potentially “devastating” weather conditions.
On Sunday, the National Weather Service issued a Flood Watch for the Central Florida area, including Walt Disney World Resort and Universal Orlando Resort. Less than 24 hours later, the NWS Melbourne posted another Flood Watch from Brevard to Osceola, which includes both Central Florida theme park destinations as well as Daytona Beach, Sanford, Leesburg, Kissimmee, Melbourne, and Kenansville.

The warning, which @NWSMelbourne also posted on X (formerly known as Twitter), advises people in affected areas to avoid flooded or partially flooded roads:
Oct 27 | 🌧️ and 🌩️ today ahead of an approaching cool front. 🌧️ will be faster moving today, but a few spots could see multiple rounds. A Flood Watch continues for the northern counties due to the extreme sensitivity to additional heavy 🌧️. Avoid flooded areas.

Heavy rainfall on Monday could be even more devastating, as areas that suffered significant rain on Sunday are highly susceptible to further rainfall in the coming hours. The inclement weather may “produce flash flooding in these spots,” and swales may fill.
Central Florida is expected to experience increased rainfall over the next week as Hurricane Melissa moves through the Caribbean. Disney Cruise Line altered its itineraries for both Disney Treasure and Disney Wish due to the risks imposed by the Category 5 storm.

The “catastrophic and life-threatening” hurricane isn’t currently projected to cause significant damage near Walt Disney World Resort, but leftover winds and rainfall from similar storms have historically impacted the Central Florida theme parks.
