There’s the rowdy bachelorette parties “Drinking Around the World Showcase,” and the obnoxious adults yelling “alcoholics!” at Terry Crews during the Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind preshow. But while at least one party involved in these incidents is having a good time, the latest upset at EPCOT has negatively affected almost everyone visiting the Walt Disney World Resort theme park.
On Thursday, October 23, Reddit user u/Elegant_Bar_1622 shared this photo from the walkway between Creations Shop and Connections Cafe in the World Celebration neighborhood at EPCOT. When it premiered after the Future World overhaul, the area featured a large, covered seating area—a rarity for guests looking to rest during a long day at the theme park. Unfortunately, the social media user’s photo shows that the entire rest area has been removed overnight, with no explanation from Walt Disney World Resort.

“Yall. They’ve taken away the seating in between Connections and Creations at EPCOT!” the Disney Park guest wrote. “Why would they do that? Was there an announcement I missed?”
Some Disney Parks fans suggested the area disappeared due to guest misbehavior.
“This used to be one of my favorite areas to sit, eat, and people watch,” u/Experiment626b wrote. “Now pin traders with binders full of 1000s of dollars worth of pins camp out here and steal all the seating from everyone so they can be jerks to casual pin traders or rip them off. I actually saw one of them celebrating one day after. Trade with just a normal family with a handful of pins. They waited until they walked away and weren’t looking and just starting freaking out.”
“Agreed it’s gotten so weird and rude in this area!!” u/AgitatedCockroach862 replied. “My first assumption is they removed the seating to stop pin hawkers from camping out there.”
Still, others theorized that the EPCOT seating area will be back within a few days, after the upcoming runDisney races are finished.
“Half marathon this weekend goes through there, they probably removed it for that,” said u/Funkyneat.
“They absolutely were removed for the race,” u/gmmwewlma echoed. “Next Tuesday they will be right back.”
Walt Disney World Resort hasn’t made any public statements about the removed seating area at EPCOT.
