It’s happening. Disney has officially confirmed that a once-dead Marvel character will be making a big comeback in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. And no, we’re not talking about the whispers surrounding Robert Downey Jr. stepping into a shocking new role as Doctor Doom. This comeback is something entirely different—and it’s about to shake up the future of the MCU in a way fans didn’t quite expect.

Marvel has never been shy about bringing back fan favorites, but this one hits differently. It’s a character who was taken out early in the story, seemingly for good. Now, thanks to the next wave of MCU storytelling, they’re returning—alive and well.

From Iron Man to the Fantastic Four

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has come a very long way since Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) built a suit in a cave with a box of scraps. From that moment in 2008, we’ve watched the Avengers assemble, heroes rise and fall, villains bring chaos, and entire timelines unravel. What started as a single film has evolved into a sprawling saga spanning galaxies, multiverses, and alternate realities.

Now, with Phase 6 approaching, the focus has shifted once again. Fresh teams like the Thunderbolts and the Fantastic Four are stepping into the spotlight, expanding the MCU’s roster and reshaping its tone. And just when some fans thought Marvel might slow down, the studio has thrown another curveball—by reviving someone who didn’t make it out of the opening episodes of Daredevil: Born Again.

The Disney+ Effect

Another major force driving this new era is the rise of Disney+. The streaming platform has given Marvel more room to experiment and reintroduce characters outside the traditional blockbuster format. Shows like WandaVision, Loki, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, and She-Hulk have built bridges between theatrical events and smaller, character-driven stories.

These series haven’t just filled in the gaps between movies—they’ve laid the groundwork for characters to grow, change, and, in many cases, return from the dead.

The Revival of a Hit Hero

That brings us to one of the most surprising comeback stories yet. When Marvel Studios revived Daredevil: Born Again, they brought back familiar faces like Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock, Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page, and Elden Henson as Foggy Nelson. But fans were stunned when Foggy—Matt’s best friend and trusted partner—was killed off early in the new season. It felt final.

For months, rumors swirled. Fans speculated about secret cameos, flashbacks, and alternate timelines. Then came denials. Henson himself said at L.A. Comic-Con that he wasn’t part of Season 2. That seemed to put the speculation to rest.

But now? Everything has changed.

A Beloved Character Rises

During New York Comic-Con, Marvel Studios Head of Television Brad Winderbaum confirmed in an interview with Entertainment Weekly that Foggy Nelson will indeed return in Season 2 of Daredevil: Born Again. Winderbaum explained that Henson likely denied his involvement because he wasn’t sure what he was allowed to reveal. It’s not uncommon for actors to keep quiet until the studio gives the green light.

With that confirmation, one thing is clear—Foggy Nelson is officially back in the MCU. How they’ll bring him back remains a mystery, but knowing Marvel, it could involve legal intrigue, Multiverse twists, or maybe something even wilder.

The Resurrections Don’t Stop There

Foggy’s return isn’t an isolated surprise—it’s part of a bigger pattern that’s starting to take shape across the MCU. Over the last few years, Marvel has leaned heavily into the idea that death isn’t always permanent in this universe.

Between Multiverse loopholes, advanced technology, and powerful abilities that bend reality itself, characters who once had their stories cut short are suddenly stepping back into the spotlight. And Foggy is just the beginning. Several other heroes and villains are preparing to make their own dramatic comebacks in Phase 6.

1. Vision’s Second Chance

Foggy isn’t the only character rising from the ashes. One of the MCU’s most emotional losses was Vision’s (Paul Bettany) death in Avengers: Infinity War. Thanos (Josh Brolin) ripped the Mind Stone from his forehead, ending his life in one of the most devastating scenes of the entire saga. But as fans know, death isn’t always permanent in Marvel’s world.

Through WandaVision, Vision’s body was reanimated as White Vision, who regained his memories and disappeared into the world to find his identity. Now, Vision will return in VisionQuest, a new series set to explore his rebirth and his path to rediscover who he truly is.

It’s a story that blends tragedy, hope, and the idea that even synthetic beings can get second chances.

2. The Return of Raza

Few expected a callback this far back in MCU history. Raza (Faran Tahir), one of the original leaders of the Ten Rings who kidnapped Tony Stark, was left paralyzed and presumed dead after he betrayed Obadiah Stane. But in 2026, he’s set to reappear in VisionQuest.

His return connects the earliest chapter of the MCU with its future, demonstrating just how far Marvel is willing to go to weave a larger story.

3. Ultron Is Not Done Yet

Ultron (James Spader), the big bad from Avengers: Age of Ultron, met his end when Earth’s mightiest heroes shut him down for good—or so we thought. He’s coming back in VisionQuest as well, appearing as one of the AIs Vision encounters on his journey.

His presence opens the door to some unsettling possibilities, especially with the Multiverse and artificial intelligence playing increasingly significant roles.

4. Cyclops Lives Again

James Marsden’s Cyclops, once a cornerstone of the X-Men franchise, also has unfinished business. Although he died in the early X-Men films, timeline shenanigans brought him back briefly in X-Men: Days of Future Past.

Now, Cyclops will be resurrected once more as the MCU officially folds the X-Men into its story. He’ll return in Avengers: Doomsday, setting the stage for an even bigger mutant storyline.

5. Professor X Returns… Again

Professor Charles Xavier (Patrick Stewart) might hold the record for most on-screen deaths in Marvel history. He’s died multiple times—at the hands of Jean Grey, in alternate timelines, and even as a variant in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

But death has never kept Xavier away for long. He’ll be back in Avengers: Doomsday alongside other X-Men legends, though it remains unclear whether it’ll be the original version or a variant. Either way, Xavier’s return signals that the mutants will have a massive role to play in the MCU’s next big showdown.

6. Tommy Maximoff’s Resurrection

Wanda and Vision’s twins, Tommy (Jett Klyne) and Billy (Julian Hilliard), broke hearts when they disappeared as Wanda dismantled the Hex in Westview. But the Multiverse gave them new life. Tommy’s spirit found a new host in Tommy Shepherd, who will appear in VisionQuest.

This sets the stage for Marvel’s younger generation to step into the spotlight—something fans have been eagerly awaiting.

7. Sue Storm Returns to the Fight

Sue Storm (Vanessa Kirby), better known as the Invisible Woman, gave her all to save her child, Franklin Richards, in The Fantastic Four: First Steps. Her sacrifice left her lifeless, but Franklin’s mysterious powers brought her back. Now, she’s confirmed to return in Avengers: Doomsday, adding another powerhouse to the expanding roster of heroes.

8. Loki’s Latest Resurrection

And of course, we can’t forget Loki (Tom Hiddleston). The “god of Mischief” has made a career out of dying and coming back. After his death at the hands of Thanos, the Loki we follow today emerged from an alternate timeline in Avengers: Endgame.

He ended Loki Season 2 in a very different position—as the “god of Stories,” holding the Multiverse together. But Marvel isn’t done with him. He’s set to return in Avengers: Doomsday, proving once again that death is never the end when it comes to Loki.

A New Era of Second Chances

With Foggy Nelson officially returning, and a wave of other “dead” characters rising for Phase 6, Marvel is making one thing clear: no one is ever truly gone in the MCU.

Between Disney+ series like VisionQuest and Daredevil: Born Again, and big-screen events like Avengers: Doomsday, this next era is all about unfinished stories and unexpected comebacks. Whether it’s resurrected heroes, villains, or somewhere in between, the MCU is doubling down on its interconnected legacy.

And if this is just the beginning, fans are in for one wild ride.
