Ride closures are something every Disney fan has to get used to. This year has been especially busy when it comes to ride and attraction updates, with several fan-favorites closing down over the last few months.

One of the most significant developments came this January when Big Thunder Mountain Railroad closed at the Magic Kingdom.

During its closure, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad will receive new track pieces as well as general technical upgrades. Most exciting are updated scenes, including a fresh take on the coaster’s grand finale. The iconic Wild West-themed roller coaster is set to return sometime next year, marking one of the park’s longest refurbishment cycles in recent memory.

However, another fan-favorite ride recently closed, this time at Disneyland Paris, and it’s set to change in a big way.

Ratatouille: The Adventure at Disneyland Paris has required guests to wear 3D glasses since it opened. This aspect of the ride has been quite controversial, with some fans arguing that Disneyland Paris should simply eliminate the 3D effects on the screens.

Fans got their wish earlier this year when Disneyland Paris announced it would close Ratatouille: The Adventure for an extended refurbishment and remove the 3D elements. Ratatouille: The Adventure is expected to reopen in Spring 2026.

The attraction opened at Walt Disney Studios Park in 2014. Over the last decade, it has become one of the most popular attractions at the European resort. The ride blends classic Disney dark ride elements with modern-day technology, taking riders through a hectic day at Gusteau’s alongside Remy and his friends.

Ratatouille: The Adventure quickly became a staple of the resort. The dark ride seeks to transport guests into the world of Pixar’s 2007 animated classic, shrinking them down to the size of rats. Along the way, riders will encounter all sorts of obstacles and detours as they attempt to reach Remy.

In 2021, Disney brought the ride to its Walt Disney World Resort in Florida, naming it Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure. The ride was a perfect fit, finding its home inside the France Pavilion at EPCOT’s World Showcase.

This is hardly the only ride facing changes at Disneyland Paris, with the entire resort getting some heavy upgrades. Walt Disney Studios Park is seeing most of these changes, as the park will not only welcome a brand-new land next year (World of Frozen), but it will also soon be home to a new water ride based on The Lion King.

When all is said and done, Walt Disney Studios Park will be renamed to Disney Adventure World.
