I have to use a scooter. I am 77 years old and love going to Disney. People don’t realize how we can not stop on a dime. They walk in front of you and then give you a dirty look or comment because you almost hit them . I’m so tired of shaming by people who don’t have any idea how these vehicles allow us to enjoy the parks we love with our family.

I am also on a scooter for many medical issues. I love Disney and it helps me enjoy the parks. Please be mindful of those on scooters. Be kind and know we wish we could walk like we use to.

Are there careless ECV users at the parks (I go to DL)? Of course. But more often, issues are caused by pedestrians of all ages not paying attention or deliberately rushing to run ahead of someone on an ECV.
I have my own compact foldable one. I NEED it to travel through the parks (I’m fine in lines and shops). And the number of children who dash right in front of me, people who just drift in front of me without looking or (my personal favorite) people who do that fake half run while giving me a “Don’t mind me” smile that still causes me to have to use the drum brake – those numbers are endless.
I am very aware of my surroundings, never stop or turn without looking and limit my speed (my little guy can go at a pretty zippy pace). So if your spawn isn’t taught to respect everyone else in a busy theme park, that’s on the parents/grandparents.

    1. As soon as I started needing a wheelchair and now a scooter, I found that I was suddenly invisible. People can look right through me when I’m navigating the parks. And the constantly stop in front of me while we are all moving along. . .and I always drive on the right side of the road as we all do in the USA. Unfortunately I have to be the one on guard as other pedestrians can’t be bothered. But if I happen to come in contact with them they are exceedingly quick to confront me.
