Law enforcement and other emergency services personnel responded to an incident near Bay Lake Tower at Disney’s Contemporary Resort on Thursday, October 23. Police cordoned off a location outside the Magic Kingdom area hotel and reportedly encouraged guests to refrain from looking out their balconies.
According to a report from WDWNT, Walt Disney World Resort cast members closed off several entrances to Bay Lake Tower at Disney’s Contemporary Resort on Thursday morning. Dozens of police vehicles, an ambulance, and a fire truck were spotted on the scene.

TikTok user @aiotfamily shared a video taken from a room at Disney’s Contemporary Resort that overlooked the scene. The clip shows police tape blocking off a large section of the outdoor area near Bay Lake Tower, and several emergency services personnel monitoring the area. The TikTok user said they were told it was a “medical emergency.”
@aiotfamily We woke up to a VERY large law enforcement outside our balcony this morning at Disney’s Bay Lake Tower. We were told it was a “medical emergency”. Prayers to the family & those involved! 🙏 #disneyworld #baylaketower
Scaffolding, towel carts, and other miscellaneous hotel property were used to block the scene from view of Walt Disney World Resort guests, and a white tent was erected in the area.
Walt Disney World Resort and local law enforcement haven’t issued any public statements about the incident, but several guests at Disney’s Contemporary Resort claimed on social media that cast members knocked on their doors to ask them not to look out their balcony windows.

On Facebook, a guest named Cindy Harriman Alford shared a photo of dozens of emergency vehicles parked outside Disney’s Contemporary Resort. Alford said Walt Disney World Resort cast members were positioned in front of several windows facing the back side of the tower, which blocked the view for guests.
“Well, I’m staying here at Bay Lake Towers in Disney World. And there are over 40 security cars, an ambulance, a firetruck out front. All entrances have been blocked to Bay Lake. Something happened in the back of the building with crime scene tape surrounding the water fountain. I don’t know if somebody jumped or accidentally fell to their death, but something happened. And they have an employee at every single window to shield you from looking out the back so you can’t view. Not to mention about 30 executives and employee employees standing around. Someone jumped from the contemporary last week. This is craziness.”
All emergency personnel had left the scene by around 1:00 p.m. EST on Thursday, October 23. Inside the Magic will provide updates on this developing story as they become available.

This incident follows two tragic deaths at Walt Disney World Resort hotels in the last two weeks, including a 31-year-old woman’s alleged suicide by falling at Disney’s Contemporary Resort on October 14. On October 21, another man died of natural causes at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campgrounds.
