From Haunted Mansion to Pirates of the Caribbean, Disney’s theme parks are full of iconic, legendary attractions. Some are certainly better than others, but for the most part, there’s not a truly “bad” experience to be found at Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, or Disney’s Animal Kingdom.

However, there are a few hidden gems that we would call underrated. These attractions don’t get mentioned as much as other, more popular ones, even though we think they’re just as good (or even better).

One example is Alien Swirling Saucers at Hollywood Studios. It may not look like much, but this family-friendly ride is actually an incredibly fun time, taking riders on a Toy Story-themed adventure.

Disney’s Hollywood Studios is home to several other underrated attractions, with the one we want to talk about being Star Tours.

While Star Tours is certainly not a “hidden gem,” the attraction does not seem to get the attention it deserves from modern theme park goers. Sure, the attraction is old, but it’s still an action-packed adventure that rivals other popular rides at Walt Disney World.

Star Tours harkens back to a different era in Walt Disney Imagineering. Yes, it’s dated, yes, it’s a little simple, but all of this adds to the attraction’s charm. We’ve gone on record calling Star Tours the best Star Wars-themed attraction in Walt Disney World, an opinion some of us still stand by.

It’s common to see wait times dip into the single digits for Star Tours, something we can never quite wrap our heads around. We’re definitely not complaining, but Star Tours’ low wait times make it seem like a boring attraction when this could not be farther from the truth.

It may sound crazy, considering Disney’s Hollywood Studios is also home to Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, but there’s an undeniable magical quality to Star Tours that isn’t matched anywhere else.

Star Tours is also extremely re-rideable, as the attraction randomly selects different scenes to play each time. This means that riders never genuinely know where their Starspeeder may take them.

Star Tours is also the only ride to take guests back to other eras of the Star Wars universe. Galaxy’s Edge is set at a certain point in Disney’s divisive sequel trilogy, meaning characters like Darth Vader and Obi-Wan Kenobi are nowhere to be seen.

This is not the case for Star Tours, which features characters and missions from each trilogy.

Star Tours could undoubtedly use some upgrades, but this little attraction feels just as fun and fresh as it did when it opened in 1989. It’s a simple yet incredibly effective attraction, one that consistently delivers smiles, and for that reason, we think it’s one of the most underrated attractions at Walt Disney World.
