When guests visit Walt Disney World Resort, they automatically agree to follow certain policies and procedures. These rules help keep them safe, help keep cast members safe, keep the parks family-friendly, and keep things operating smoothly. Guests have to dress appropriately, treat other guests and cast members with respect, listen to what cast members tell them, not bring certain things (like drones) into the parks, and only smoke in designated areas, just to name a few.
While the rules are easy to follow, some guests might not think about them and accidentally break them before they realize what they have done. Cast members know that many guests don’t break the rules with any malice, which is why they let so many things slide.

Recently, Reddit user revenue_management asked other users to confess their Disney World “sins,” rules they broke either on purpose or accidentally. Commenters were quick to respond, and their answers ranged from hilarious to things we can all relate to.
Rtkane had broken several rules, and while many of them aren’t actually “rules,” his wife accidentally broke one that could have gotten her temporarily kicked out of the park!
Bless me Mickey, for I have sinned…
I took too much BBQ sauce at FlameTree and had to throw it away
Once I touched the roof of the launch tunnel in Space Mountain
I reached over the wall in Animal Kingdom to take pics of the construction going on where Dinoland was.
I once did not stand clear of the closing doors on the monorail, so it had to open back up and shut again
And a sin for my wife:
She brought pepper spray into the park (got it through TSA and into Epcot). It was a complete mistake and she was mortified when she went back to the room and saw it still in her purse.

One of the most iconic experiences guests can have at Walt Disney World is riding the monorail. In fact, being told to stand clear of the doors in Spanish is practically a rite of passage. Por favor, ¡manténgase alejado de las puertas!
Now, what would happen if you did not stand clear of the doors? Well, one guest found out when they committed the ultimate sin of not listening to the message.
I once did not stand clear of the closing doors on the monorail, so it had to open back up and shut again
Then, there was the commenter who shocked everyone by admitting that they had never had the legendary Disney DOLE Whip. What?! The creamy, sweet pineapple goodness is an experience not to be missed!

One of the more popular comments was someone admitting to the fact that they don’t always use “child-friendly” language while in the parks. The Walt Disney World Resort website does ask guests not to engage in profanity while visiting, but of course, sometimes people say things without thinking.
Overall, cast members are pretty lenient when it comes to guest language, but if they hear someone using a lot of profanity or saying things that are just downright offensive, they will step in and ask the guest to adjust their behavior.
Others overwhelmingly agreed with the commenter who said they just guests on their sidewalk etiquette. The sidewalks at the parks offer limited space, and many guests get frustrated with guests who walk incredibly slowly or stop in the middle of the sidewalk (or even the street, for that matter).
My wife walks fast and Disney causes a great deal of rage in her because of this. She’s okay with people being slow, a little annoyed by people being slow and walking four abreast, and about ready to throw someone into the lagoon for walking slow and meandering

There’s A LOT to see and do at Disney World, and many guests want to experience as many things as possible during their magical vacation. But it’s always important to remember to take some time to just relax and reset. You don’t want to burn out and not enjoy your vacation. Sometimes, however, relaxing is easier said than done.
My WDW sin is that I preach to others about making time to relax at the resort and scheduling pool breaks, but as my last trip taught me, I’m too tempted by LLs and dinner plans and usually rush my kid at the pool. She would stay there all day if we could.
To be fair, this last trip I had a lot of “one off” reservations that I won’t need to do again like Savi’s and BBB. But still, too much rushing. Guess that just means we need another trip, right?

Other guests admitted to things like drinking too much at EPCOT, trying to order alcohol in the Magic Kingdom (before they began selling it), never watching parades or fireworks shows, and even liking Universal better.
While it’s always fun to think about the rules that we accidentally break without thinking about it, it is important to remember that many of the rules are in place for a reason. Breaking some rules can result in injuries to you or other guests or put cast members in danger. Breaking certain rules might get you removed from the park or even banned from visiting in the future.
Have you ever been guilty of breaking some of the rules that guests spoke about above? What Disney rules have you broken during your vacation? Share your stories with us in the comments!
