On September 13, 2025, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure failed to open alongside Disneyland Park. Southern California Disney Park guests noticed that cast members had drained the water from the log flume ride, suggesting complicated technical issues were behind the indefinite shutdown. The Princess and the Frog (2009) attraction eventually reopened that day, but it was only hours before another meltdown plagued the Bayou Country ride, trapping guests at the top of the 50-foot drop.
Tiana’s Bayou Adventure premiered at Disneyland Resort in November 2024, five months after debuting at Walt Disney World Resort. Anecdotally, the Disneyland Park version of the rethemed Splash Mountain appeared to experience fewer issues than Magic Kingdom Park’s, which broke down repeatedly during its early days, sometimes closing hours before the rest of the park.

The rethemed Splash Mountain invites guests into the world of The Princess and the Frog (2009), after the events of the Disney Princess film. Riders join Princess Tiana (Anika Noni Rose), Louis (Michael-Leon Wooley), Prince Naveen (Bruno Campos), and Mama Odie (Jenifer Lewis) as they gather musicians for a party on the Bayou. Dr. Facilier (Keith David) doesn’t appear on the attraction.
Even though Disneyland Resort’s version of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure seemingly had a smoother start, like any Disney Park ride, it has had some technical issues here and there. After Disney cast members resolved the problem that forced them to drain the attraction on the morning of September 13, it was smooth sailing for just a few hours before something else made them cease operations.

TikTok user @yourdisnerd had a Lightning Lane reservation for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure on the evening of September 13. They approached the ride after receiving a notification from the Disneyland Resort app that their reservation couldn’t be honored. When they arrived, they found Tiana’s Bayou Adventure closed–with several riders trapped in a log at the top of its iconic 50-foot plunge.

“Now I know why I can’t do my Lightning Lane,” the Disney Park guest said. “Some poor people are stuck on Tiana’s ride.”
The shutdown reportedly occurred at around 10:30 p.m. on September 13, 2025. It’s unclear how long it took Disney cast members to remove everyone from Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. Typically, Disney tries to restart attractions before evacuating everyone, but it’s unclear whether that happened here.

Thankfully, Disney cast members appear to have resolved the issues that plagued Tiana’s Bayou Adventure last week. As of the publication of this article on September 16, the Disneyland Park ride was operating normally.
