With the Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland undergoing significant changes, there are fewer and fewer rides at the parks that are directly connected to Walt Disney. Disney executives seem set on closing some of the older rides/attractions and replacing them with newer, IP-related rides.

Disney is even making changes to the Carousel of Progress at Magic Kingdom to add Walt to the attraction. Disney even recently made a slight change to “it’s a small world,” adding an additional verse to the iconic song written by the late Richard Sherman before his death.

So, you can imagine Disney fans’ trepidation when they saw the iconic ‘it’s a small world” on Disneyland’s closure list this week. But don’t worry, this is expected and for good reason.

Disneyland Resort announced that “it’s a small world” will be closed for refurbishment from October 30 to November 13 to receive its holiday overlay. This annual tradition has been happening at the ride since 1997, only taking two years off for the COVID-19 pandemic.

The holiday overlay at “it’s a small world” is one of the many updates at the Disneyland Resort for the Christmas season. The Haunted Mansion closed in August after a 12-day closure to add The Nightmare Before Christmas overlay to the attraction.

“it’s a small world” will reopen just in time for the holiday season at Disneyland. The resort kicks off its Christmas season on November 14.

Disneyland adds the Christmas Fantasy Parade, Believe….In Holiday Magic Fireworks and Wintertime Enchantment at Sleeping Beauty Castle for the Christmas season. Disneyland will also have special character meet-and-greets, and guests will have the chance to meet Santa Claus.

At Disney’s California Adventure, there is the Disney Festival of Holidays and Festive Foods Marketplace.

If you want to ride “it’s a small world,” October 29 will be the final day, but it will return on November 14 with its special holiday overlay. Enjoy the holiday season at the Disneyland Resort.
