The person injured in a violent physical altercation at Walt Disney World late last year has been identified as the mother of her attacker.

According to a new report from the Daily Mail, the woman who was attacked during a day at Disney World is Diane Marie Cameron. Her attacker, her son Matthew Edward Cameron, could be seen in a number of viral social media posts beating her during an intense dispute in October 2024.

The 22-year-old was eventually approached by other guests at the Magic Kingdom and subdued. The incident occurred on Main Street, U.S.A. near Casey’s Corner, a popular quick-service eatery.

Matthew was arrested on domestic battery charges, but only now is more information coming to light regarding the person whom he attacked, his mother.

According to official reports, Deputy Dominic Gonzalez stated that Matthew “suddenly became upset with her and pushed the left side of her face away from him.”

Matthew then proceeded to punch Diane on the left side of her face. This knocked her out on the ground and left her nose bleeding. The two were vacationing in Walt Disney World along with Matthew’s sister.
Michael Williams, a guest visiting Magic Kingdom during the incident, tackled and held Cameron to the ground. Williams served as a witness to the altercation.
Matthew admitted he attacked his mother after becoming “frustrated” with her during an argument at he park.

His mother, Diane, told police her son suffered from severe schizophrenia and experienced hallucinations. Matthew had reportedly been violent in the past.

Prosecutors eventually dropped charges against Cameron in January 2025.

While rare, fights do happen at the Walt Disney World Resort. Earlier this week, a guest was arrested following an altercation with police at EPCOT.

Reports spread online of another physical altercation this week, this time at the Mad Tea Party in Magic Kingdom’s Fantasyland. The family attraction was allegedly closed due to a fight breaking out between guests.
