We love riding Disney’s TRON roller coaster, but there are a few things we would change about it.

TRON Lightcycle / Run officially opened on April 4, 2023, after a fairly long construction process. The roller coaster was initially unveiled back in 2017, meaning it took nearly seven years for Disney World to complete the thrill ride.

As they say, good things come to those who wait. Over the last two years, TRON has become a staple of the Magic Kingdom and is now one of Walt Disney World’s most popular attractions.

However, there are still a few things about this futuristic roller coaster that we can’t help but get annoyed by.

TRON Lightcycle / Run is ultra smooth and lightning fast, but comfortable is not a word anyone should use to describe it. Unlike other Disney World roller coasters, guests lie down on their stomachs on TRON, similar to Avatar Flight of Passage. TRON is designed to make guests feel like they are riding a Lightcycle, meaning they straddle the coaster like an actual motorcycle.

While immersive and more realistic, this means guests are forced to lie down and hold their heads up. Guests are locked in place by ankle braces and a backplate.

It’s definitely one of the more uncomfortable setups in Walt Disney World, but overall, this discomfort is worth it.

Being one of Walt Disney World’s newest rides, high wait times are not unexpected, but they are still quite annoying. It’s common to see TRON hit wait times anywhere between an hour and two hours, though there are definitely certain times of the day where the line drops to 30 minutes.

Guests will want to have a strategy for riding TRON Lightcycle / Run. To cut back on time spent in line, we suggest getting to Magic Kingdom early and lining up for TRON.

The Length

While we absolutely love TRON Lightcycle / Run, we wouldn’t complain if the roller coaster were just a little bit longer. TRON is roughly only about 60 seconds in length, a little shorter than Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster. Both of these attractions are super fun, faster, and thrilling, but could benefit from a little more track.

In comparison, coasters like Big Thunder Mountain and Space Mountain last between two and three minutes.

While we have some complaints, overall, TRON Lightcycle / Run is a ride you won’t miss during your Walt Disney World vacation.
