Kali River Rapids is often labeled as the worst ride in Walt Disney World, but there are still a few things we love about this attraction.

Kali River Rapids is often skipped by guests because they simply do not want to get wet. Sure, other water rides exist at Walt Disney World, but only one leaves guests as soaked as Kali River Rapids.

However, this part of the ride can be fantastic on those extra-hot summer days, making Kali River Rapids a great and fun way to cool off.

While there’s a lot to like (and dislike) about Kali River Rapids, it’s more than fair to say it’s one of Walt Disney World’s most unique attractions. While Disney World offers a few water-based experiences, only one ride lets guests board a raft and tumble down raging rapids.

A free-moving water raft ride is an incredibly exciting idea for an attraction, and this part of Kali River Rapids is great. Going up and then down the massive hill is a lot of fun, too.

What we’re trying to say is that Kali River Rapids fills a gap that the rest of the rides and attractions at Walt Disney World simply don’t, which is one reason we actually quite admire it.

The Queue

We’ve gone on record before saying that Kali River Rapids has one of the best queues in all of Walt Disney World, and this is an opinion we still hold very dearly. Nobody likes to wait in line, but it helps when said line is at least fun to be in and look at.

Kali River Rapids’ queue features all kinds of cool details and authentic, immersive theming. From statues to small exhibits, each piece of the queue helps tell the story of the attraction and entertain guests as they wait.

The only downside (if you can call it one) is that guests really won’t be spending much time waiting for Kali River Rapids, so these details often go missed. But if you’re bored and need something to do at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, we recommend at least checking this attraction out.

It Has a Good Message

Most of the rides and attractions at Disney’s Animal Kingdom share a central message of conservation.

Kali River Rapids relays this message in a really fun and real way. During the ride, visitors are exposed to the effects of deforestation, which has left a once-lush jungle completely barren. Chainsaws can be heard, and the smell of smoke fills the air.

It’s an ugly sight, but it effectively shows how important it is to care for planet Earth.

Overall, we know Kali River Rapids isn’t for everyone, and we often skip it ourselves when we visit Disney’s Animal Kingdom. But there are certainly things to like about this attraction, and it’s worth a spin every once in a while.
