Walt Disney World Resort has closed a large portion of the EPCOT parking lot for a resurfacing project. Disney hasn’t said anything publicly about this maintenance work, but guests encountered the closure when they arrived at the park on Tuesday.
There’s more than one way to get to EPCOT. Locals or guests staying at third-party hotels often park and walk or take a tram to the entrance, but Disney Resort hotel guests can take buses, watercraft transportation, the Monorail, the Disney Skyliner, or even walk to one of two EPCOT entrances: the main World Celebration gate and the International Gateway, near the France World Showcase Pavilion.

Nevertheless, guests who drive to EPCOT will encounter some challenges for the foreseeable future. On August 26, WDWNT reported that crews are working on resurfacing the asphalt on hundreds, if not thousands, of parking spots at EPCOT. On Tuesday, cast members had blocked the Moana section with cones and other barricades, preventing guests from parking there.
The repavement project has covered up existing painted parking lines. Once the new pavement dries, crews will repaint the lines in the Moana section and other impacted areas. Inside the Magic doesn’t know when the closed parking spaces will reopen to guests.

It’s unclear whether Walt Disney World Resort plans to resurface other sections of the EPCOT parking area. The massive lot is split into two sections: “Earth” and “Space.” The Earth lot includes the Moana, Heihei, Crush, and Dory parking areas, while the Space lot includes the Wall-E, Eve, Gamora, and Rocket parking areas.
btw rocket and gamora’s bestieism lives at least at the Epcot parking lot
Walt Disney World Resort guests can avoid the ongoing parking lot construction altogether by parking at the Transportation & Ticket Center (TTC) and taking the Monorail to EPCOT.
