Disney World Park Closed for Two Weeks, Effective Immediately

in Walt Disney World

The new Magic Kingdom Central Plaza area between Main Street, U.S.A. and Cinderella Castle is now open to guests. The new landscaping is the first milestone of a multi-phase project that features sculpted gardens, charming fountains and winding pathways. This area is designed to be reminiscent of castle gardens and offers extraordinary viewing locations for parades and fireworks. Magic Kingdom is located at Walt Disney World Resort in Lake Buena Vista, Fla. One of Walt Disney World Resort’s lesser-known park areas is now closed for two weeks. Here’s what guests need to know before they go.

As of Tuesday, August 5, 2025, Disney’s Palm Golf Course is closed to Walt Disney World Resort guests. The area will be undergoing aerification, a process involving placing holes throughout the golf course turf, especially in flatter areas, to improve natural water and air flow. In the long term, aerification keeps golf course grounds healthier and helps the turf last longer.

Disney’s Palm Golf Course will remain closed through Thursday, August 14, 2025. It will reopen to guests on Friday, August 15. Until then, Walt Disney World Resort guests are encouraged to use the company’s other Central Florida golf courses: Disney’s Magnolia Golf Course and Disney’s Lake Buena Vista Golf Course.

Walt Disney World Resort’s golf courses are operated by Arnold Palmer Golf Management. A recent notice on the GolfWDW website reads:

PLEASE NOTE!… Beginning on Monday August 4th, 2025, Disney’s Palm Golf Course will be closed for aerification. It will re-open for play on Friday August 15th. We recommend that you play at either Disney’s Magnolia or Disney’s Lake Buena Vista Golf Course during this timeframe as we prepare Disney’s Palm Golf Course for your future enjoyment! We apologize for any inconvenience caused by the temporary closure of this course, and we look forward to welcoming you back to our golf courses again in the near future.

This closure comes after Disney’s Magnolia Golf Course was shut down for refurbishment earlier this year. The luxurious green eventually reopened with refreshed grounds and reimagined holes named “Grumpy’s Gauntlet.”

Disney’s Palm Golf Course was completely redesigned in 2013. The 18-hole golf course features nine holes with water hazards, 59 bunkers, “shimmering lakes, tropical sands, palm trees, and sloping greens.” Walt Disney World Resort welcomes pro and novice golfers alike to experience their favorite sport at The Most Magical Place on Earth.
